How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because I have got things which I never had like mattress and a bed. I now sleep very well. Previously, I slept on hard mat. In addition, I have repossessed my piece of land and I have built on my permanent house. Prior to this transfer we could not settle that debt or build because the space was not enough.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by helping me to building permanent structure and clearing debts. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I purchased building materials ( cement, sand, timber, iron sheets), cleared a debt and labour.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The greatest change in my daily life is we all wake up happy and looking healthier because we sleep on a comfortable bed. In the past, I used to sleep on the floor because we had only one good mattress. I am very grateful that GiveDirectly sent me this cash transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
At that time when the money was sent, I was pregnant and almost putting to bed. However when I checked my phone the next day, I felt very excited because this was my first time ever to receive a million plus. This money was going to relieve me from the struggles of looking for grass for my house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase bricks, sand, a bed, and a mattress. However,I have a balance of UGX 550,000 that I intend to spend on constructing an iron roofed house.
