How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
After putting the second transfer into the plans I had, I developed another goal that I am looking forward to accomplishing once I get some money and this is concerning my house. As at now my house is in the verge of collapsing and I have given it the first priority if I get some money.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did a marvelous thing on my side, it empowered me and now I have some assets that I can rely on. As at now the goats have matured and I will soon start harvesting in them. In my opinion this organization has no fault at all and it did well to us in the community.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After getting the second transfer, I opted to buy seven gala goats for KES 42000.00. The main reason for investing in this type of goats is that they have good selling price if it comes to selling them. This will boost my standard of living once the goats are ready for sale. Thereafter I opted to use the remaining amount in buying food for the family because we are going through a drought season and it was hard to find food.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was from the shop when I heard one of my neighbors celebrating while mentioning GiveDirectly. Out of curiosity, I also decided to check my phone since it was on silent mode, there was a new message. I felt so happy after realizing it was an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. I started planning on how I could utilize it without wasting even a coin.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference that I will forever be mentioned is is that I now have livestock. Having the dairy cow and the goats has been a long-time dream but due to my low financial status, I could not afford to buy even one. Since they have numerous benefits I felt the best option. I now get milk for my family unlike before whereby I used to buy from neighbors which were quite expensive, Also will be selling the remaining few liters to the local markets and generate an income. To add to that, with the goats that I bought, I will start a business of selling the offsprings and I will be acquiring an additional income. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for choosing me to be among the beneficiaries.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Since I have been longing to keep livestock I spent a huge amount of my first transfer on buying livestock which includes six goats and two dairy cows at a total of KES 46000. I am now super excited becasue I have finally accomplished the long-time dream of owning livestock. I used the remaining amount to buy foodstuffs for my family. We are now taking three meals like the rest as opposed to one meal that we have been taking for all those years.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We live in a semi-arid condition and the only economic activity we are depending on is livestock rearing. My desire has been to start livestock rearing like others in the village but due financial challenge I have not accomplished my dream, receiving this money means my wish will come to reality since I am planning to invest USD 400 on purchasing 2 indigenous dairy cows at 200 dollars each. I will be able to sale milk to my neighbors something that will earn me an income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the happiest part of my day. Waking up healthy with my family and seeing another day of life despite the challenge of life gives me joy and hope for a better future.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of capital to start my livestock rearing activity has been my biggest hardship in my life. This has forced me to resort in charcoal vending activity a job that does not earn me much to support my family needs like food.
