How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have been longing for becoming a livestock farmer but failed to accomplish the dream due to lack of money, but today with transfer from GiveDirectly i have my dream has become a reallity. Now i am a cattle farmer and expect more profits in future
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly did well by distributing huge amounts of money that is enough to change peoples lives than other cash transfers which are very small and can not bring any change. There was nothing wrong
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my transfer to buy a cattle which i want to rear at MK220000, 2 bags of maize at MK8500 each and the remaining amount was used to improve my house

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My biggest desire has been to finish the house am staying in. This house was built using pooled funds from my relatives after they saw that I had no good looking house. Now I have been looking for money to finish it hence this money has come at the opportune time for me to continue finishing the house. The other part of the money will go towards starting a business which will sustain me and my family in future. This is so as we always struggle to have enough food for the whole year. Since we also do farming on rented land, this money means extra money to lend more land so that we farm and harvest more in the coming season.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Happiest part of my day is the time when I get to have food for that day. There is nothing like a feeling of having a good meal in these pandemic times. Many people are struggling and for our family to have adequate food for that day is a blessing. Having food also makes it easier for the family to be channeling efforts into other productive household chores.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our parents came here from a distant district. The time they came here, much of the fertile land had been taken already. This has led us to be renting a piece of land each season for farming. Whenever we have less money to pay for land, we end up not farming for that season. This always lead to periods of hunger in my household.
