How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it was because I am now more focused than before. Having started a business that later on flopped was an eye-opener. Now want to start a business specifically operating a restaurant since it is a field that I have a background on.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
My new goal is to start a more viable business. Having a background in the hospitality department I stand a better chance of managing this business hence becoming self-employed.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
We pulled efforts with my like-minded friend and used part of our transfer in starting a business which unfortunately flopped. I, therefore, used the remaining amount in purchasing more household items and the same facilitated me in moving to another household which is better.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different in that, I now have my own place. I used to live with my brother and depend on him to provide most of the needs in the house, but i was able to get my own place and I can now fully support myself.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
Since I received the transfers, I have felt as though I am at a different level now. I find myself wanting to hang out and interact more with entrepreneurs, and people who are business minded. I have even realized that I no longer desire to hang out with my old friends where we used to sit and spend most of our time. I hope to grow in business and to grow my businesses so I can be very wealthy and successful in future.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my transfers to open up a green grocer business and a clothes and shoe business. I partnered with a group member of mine from my youth group, Impression Youth, to open up these two businesses. We opened up these businesses last month when we both received our second transfers. We both contributed funds and opened up a green grocer shop in Joska-Kamulu area in Nairobi county, and also secured a spot in the Central Business District in Nairobi, where we hawk shoes and clothes in the evening. We are both either at the green grocer shop or hawking the products in town at any particular time, we exchange shifts in these two businesses. We opened up these businesses in order to invest in a profitable venture that can assure us of a sustainable income. So far, these businesses are doing well. I am truly grateful to Give Directly. I also spent part of the transfers to purchase some household items in my house such as a complete gas cylinder.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
First, I am planning to start a greengrocery business. I opted for this business since I will be assured of regular customers as most people, for instance, will not buy a dress when they are hungry. I also plan to open a hotel here at Mathare. This is because when I was in college, I studied catering and I have also been having a dream of owning a hotel. I am known by many people around this place and having a hotel at this place will boost my business as I will be having ore customers.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My parents are no longer insisting that I should go and build a house at home since they know that I am going to start building any time soon. This makes me happy as I am nolonger stressed up.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent 10200 KES to buy iron sheets since whenever I visit home, I usually go and sleep at my friend's house. I have not been comfortable with this act. My parents have also been pressuring me to build my own house since they also not happy with the idea of me sleeping at my friend's house. I saved the remaining amount which I am planning to use them to buy nails and timber to use in building my house.
Describe the moment when you started receiving transfers. How did you feel?
The moment i received my money, I was overwhelmed with happiness. This is because I knew that my dream of building a house was soon going to be fulfilled.
