How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed in that, I acquired more land for agriculture. In the past, I cultivated on only a half an acre of land because it was the only piece I inherited from my father. This size of land wasn't able to produce for me enough food for my family to feed on. In addition, I wasn't able to afford more food whenever the one I harvested got finished; hence we suffered from hunger in such times.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
According to me, GiveDirectly has done well by improving the living standards of the poor people in my community. Most of them have built houses, paid school fees for their children, bought land among others through the unconditional cash transfers. Personally, GiveDirectly did me well by giving me the money that I used for acquiring agricultural land. However, GiveDirectly didn't enroll all the poor eligible people in my community.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have used my second transfer for buying a tarpaulin, harvesting crops, buying bricks, paying medical bills and paying off a loan. I also loaned out part of it where by I received an acre of land as collateral.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I was able to get back my academic documents. Since 2011, my documents have been held and I have been missing a lot of job opportunities due to lack of document that of course are needed while applying for jobs. Now that I was able to get them, I will be able to freely apply for jobs that will change my life for better.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I heard a notification and on checking, it was from Givedirectly. At that moment, I felt so happy knowing that I would be in position to get my academic papers that had taken long without being released due to lack of money. Together with my wife, we decided to pray about this money and started planing for it.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to hire three farm lands that I am currently cultivating in. I also hired some labor that helped me to weed my ground nuts, peas and harvest my cassava. I then spent some of my money to pay for my academic papers to be released and certified. I also bought some building materials such timber, iron sheets and nails.
