How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In the past, I used to overthink and worry about how to sustain the lives of my three children. My spouse abandoned us and left us to survive on our own. I could not afford to buy new clothes, school requirements for them. I had to depend on casual labour to raise these necessities. However, I am glad now and relived that GiveDirectly empowered me financially. I can afford good food and basic needs for the family. I am proud that I can execute any plan independently without any doubt.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well to help the poor by sending them cash transfers without segregation. On the otherhand, I cannot point out any wrong that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I purchased a bull worth UGX 550000 and UGX 200000 to purchase iron sheets and UGX 84000 to purchase cement . I bought a mattress worth UGX 150000. I spent UGX 200000 to weed the crops. The balance was spent to purchase utensils, food and other necessities.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am overjoyed because I purchased a sewing machine. I am already making some meagre income. My life is much different in that I also sleep on a comfortable mattress and I feed well. Previously, I was worried about how to take care of my children. Being a single mother of three children, life is not a bed of roses. I had no income generating activity. I am very grateful that GiveDirectly sent me the cash transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a message at around midnight on Monday. When I read it, I could not sleep anymore because I was overwhelmed with joy. I had never received such an enormous amount of money at once.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase a cow worth UGX 580000 and a sewing machine worth UGX 500000. I purchased a mattress worth UGX 170000, utensils worth UGX 150000. I spent UGX 250000 on tilling two pieces of farm land. I bought books for my children worth UGX 5000. The balance of UGX 100000 I am planning to spend it on weeding my crops.
