Previously, I could not afford to buy a lot of things. I have ventured into large scale sugarcane farming which is so lucrative as we have milling company in our village. When I harvest the produce, I plan to use the money I get from the sale to start up my own business which will more generate income for my family's upkeep.

I have been elevated from poverty by GiveDirectly. My life is totally different as I have plenty of water because I bought a water tank that stores up to 3500 litres of water. This will last me the entire season and I will not have to trek for hours in search of water or even buy water again. Previously, I found it hard getting water as I am handicapped and can not carry a jerrican of water. Buying one jerrican of water was beyond me sometimes because I could not afford it daily. I do not see a thing that GiveDirectly does wrong.

I used the transfer I received to buy a water tank for water storage when it rains. I do not have to go to the river anymore to fetch water as I am disabled. I also used part of it to pay school fees for my children who were sent away from school. I also bought school uniforms for them as they had torn ones. I ventured into sugarcane farming, so I hired a tractor to plough my farm. I am looking forward to boom harvest which I will sell and get money for family upkeep. I also bought maize for family consumption.

The biggest difference in my life is that I have a new kitchen which has helped even spending place for my children who no longer to my neighbour to sleep and my children who were always being sent home, have never been sent home for the same.

I felt very good because I knew most of my problems were solved. My children will never be sent away for school fees again.

I spent my transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets which I used in building a kitchen, paid school fees for my children and to buy sofa set.
