How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
As a older woman, I was not having money to have fixed my house and GD assisted in giving me money. This house was built when I was young and now I am old and not able to do anything that will give me money to renovate my house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am first of all, want to be very thankful for the opportunity to be part of a program that I have never witness since I was born. The only thing that impressed me about the money business is that we are not paying back, but they continue to monitor us every day. I am very thankful to God for the people who are sending this money
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The money will be used to purchase building materials for me to renovate my house and to buy my house food to eat

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at home one morning doing some work as usual when I heard my phone message alarm, I am a old woman and doesn't understand anything about phone. I sent for my trustee to see what was going on because I saw almost everybody rejoicing in the town, when my trustee came and checked the phone, he told me that I have received a transfer message from GiveDirectly indicating that I have money in my mobile money account. After he told me, I was so excited and satisfied because it is a great help to me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have been struggling with a sickness for sometimes but couldn't get better treatment because of lack of money, my husband is already dead and all my children has left me all alone. I have also been able to build up a hope of getting a better sleeping place because of the transfer that was sent to me. My house project will soon start and I can finally relax in my own house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to buy building materials so that I can improve my house and make it more comfortable, I also used some to pay for my medical expenses because I have been sick for some time now, I also bought food with some and the balance is in savings.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have planned to renovate my house, I will therefore used my transfer to but cement to put floor in my house. I will change the doors, see how dusty the house is and the doors are not guarantee at all. I am afraid because criminals are all around her so changing the doors will keep me safe from criminals. I can not sleep well at night because I am worried about criminals braking in here. I have an experienced two years ago when an unknown person broke in here and make away with rice and other things. At that time I went to visit my sister in the next town
What is the happiest part of your day?
It was two months ago when my sister daughter by the name of Fatu send me a 25KG bag of rice, that make me so happy. Besides the rice, someone came here and help me with 100 LBR to buy my fish and that also make me happy. I can not be definite with the time I received the help because I am old now and hardly remember many things that happened
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I don't have finance, food business is a challenge as well. One of the things I can do to sustain myself is this blum. I go in the business to gather the palm leaves and use it for blum. Every market day, I sent blum the value 200 LBR (1 dollar 6 cents USD) and I used that money to feed myself for week. I don't have a sustainable income source at all.
