Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
We felt so happy the mment we received money from GiveDirectly. I shared the information with my husband early that morning and we both rejoiced as a family. We already had plans on how best we were going to spend our money and we got down to implementing those plans as a family. I look forward to accomplishing most of the things that we had set out as priority especially after receiving the second transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the dairy cow that I bought with money from GiveDirectly. We had only one cow which was not provding enough milk having sold the ones that we had to pay school fees for our children. The fact that we were able to pay school fees for our child with the extra cash that remained was also so satisfying. The money cme at a time when we were completely lot on where we could get money to pay school fees for our child and we felt so happy that GiveDirectly came to our aid.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
We used part of our first transfer to buy a dairy cow and used part of the remaining amount to pay school fees for our child who is a university student. The remaining amount was used to buy food and clothing for the family. We had only remained with one cow for the family and this could not even provide enough milk for the family. We had had to sell all of our livestock to raise school fees for our children and we could only look forward to them clearing their education so that we can be able to buy additional livestock. It was not until GiveDirectly came to our rescue to give us support that we can be able to raise enough money to buy additional livestock. Not only were we able to buy additional livestock but we were also able to clear school fees for our child who is a university student and for this reason they will be able to complete their education and hopefully get a job that will change their living standrds.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Being a farmer, I rely on milk production to meet my basic needs. Receiving this money therefore, is a big boost for me because I will be able to buy another cow. This will mean I will get an additional 4 to 5 litres per day, resulting in an increase in income by 125 shillings per day. Thank you GD.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My day entails doing house chores for the better part of the morning and thereafter, heard my cow till noon. It is at this time that I am happiest because I rest as I plan for the evening meal for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship currently is paying for my children's school fees. This is because milk prices have dropped from 30 to 25 shillings due to high supply that came about as a result of increased rainfall.
