How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash transfers have uplifted my household from poverty. I was able to hire five pieces of farm land. These have boosted our food supply. Previously, we had less farm land that was unproductive and could not sustain the whole family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to support the poor by sending them direct cash transfers. On the otherhand, I do not see anything wrong that GiveDirectly has not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to purchase a cow and hire a piece of farm land. I also spent part of the cash transfer to treat my husband.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life will soon change after completing to build my permanent house which is at ring beam level. I'm optimistic that, I will stop having sleepless night when it rains. Currently, I'm still sleeping in a leaking thatched house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received money from GiveDirectly, I felt very happy because I had hopes of building a permanent house and purchasing Livestock (cow).
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought building materials (bricks 3 trip and timber) worth UGX 1,000,000, labour worth UGX 200,000 and Livestock (calf) worth UGX 400,000. There is a balance of 100,000 which I'm planning to spend on purchasing iron sheets.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive this money, I will build an ironsheets house. The house I am currently living in is not in good shape and it leaks whenever it rains. So with the GD transfers, I will be able to sleep in a decent house that can spaciously accommodate our family. I will also buy some cows for both diary and agriculture which will help boost our household income by selling out milk and ploughing fields for commercialized agriculture.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest of my day is in the evening because it is the time I am free after doing most of the work at home. This is the time I usually sit with other family members and share other plans.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of money. Recently my husband who has been a bread winner in the family got an accident which has limited him from working. So this has highly affected our household income.
