What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer to pay a whole year school fees for my son who was joining high school so as not to be sent home for school fees, I hired a plot for farming to increase the number of plots for cultivation and to get more yields which I can sell to get school fees for my son and also bought school textbooks for my son to help him perform better in school.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I would not have received the transfers, I would not have lived in a plastered house, would not have sent my to school and would not have hired a plot to cultivate for the next three years because I did not have the money to do all this. Thank you GD
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly gives unconditional cash transfer to less privileged in the society and I have not seen anything they have not done well.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 32000Kes on buying cement and sand and constructing my house. I don't have to stress about constantly smearing the walls and floors and I don't have to worry about jiggers infesestation anymore, which is common in mud houses. I spent 15000Kes to take my daughter to secondary school, this week. I didn't have any means to help her continue her education. I'm greatful to give directly for giving me an opportunity to give her an education.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I honestly could not afford to do any of these things. I don't have any formal work, I'm a farmer and the last two seasons have been bad due to lack of rain. With no income, there was no way that I could have fed, cemented my house or take my girl to school. That's the difference that you have brought to my life.

I am planning to lease a piece of land where I can plant onions for sale. This will bring in extra cash for my family

My proudest achievement is having worked as a gardener at various institutions. With the money that I saved I have been able to educate my children.

The biggest hardship that I face right now is lack of enough money to pay school fees and food for my children, they may have to sleep hungry today.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up. I usually thank the Lord for blessing me and my family and enabling us to interact with fellow human beings.
