What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent most of my transfer to buy sand, cement which I have used to plaster my house because as a widower, I could not repair my house with mud like my wife did. Paid my father's medical bill without asking anybody for money and also paid school fees for my children so that they could not be sent home for school fees.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I had not received the transfer, I would not have completed the house I was building, my children would have been sent home for school fees hence missing classes and also I would not have hired a plot for farming for the next two seasons.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, givedirectly did well by not sending transfers through administration because it would not have reached the correct recipients and what they did not do well is giving some recipients phones and not sending them the transfers.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of my transfer to buy bulding materials ( sand, cement, iron sheet and nails) and built a house. I live in a good house now and I feel that I'm now in the same caliber as my peers. I spent 7000 KES on my children's school fees, that way, they will be in school like other children from rich families. I spent 5000KES on buying goats for rearing. I can sell them when I'm hard up and use the money. Thanks to Give Directly, I'm now on the same level as my peers and that makes me proud.

I am planning to buy farm inputs like seeds and fertiliser which I will use to increase the productivity of my farm. The remaining transfers will be used to buy sand, cement and lime which I will use to renovate my house.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is having worked as a casual worker for many years and after diligently saving my earnings for a while I have been able to educate my children.

The biggest hardship that I face right now is lack of enough money to pay school fees for my children who are in primary schools. I fear that they may have to defer their studies if I am unable to raise the required fees.
