Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before getting this cash transfer, my son who is suffering from sickle cells anaemia could not access better treatment because I was not able to pay the medical bills. However, my son's health is now better because he was able to access better treatment. In addition, I am also sleeping on a mattress as opposed to when I slept on hard mat.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt very excited because I had hopes of my son accessing better treatment and paying debts.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased clothes/ household goods( 2 mattresses, 2 pairs of bed sheets, a bag, curtains and water pot) worth UGX 426,000, paid medical bills for my son and mother worth UGX 800,000, paid school fees debt worth UGX 150,000 and bought food ( cassava flour, beans, bananas, Irish potatoes and meat) worth UGX 324,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I buy oxen and an ox plough in order to support in animal traction. The oxen will improve on food production that will be a source of livelihood for the household. Part of the food can be sold to cater for other household challenges.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Th happiest part of my day is at around 1:00pm when I have eaten lunch. It makes me happy because from morning to lunch time, I move up and down to look for what the household will feed on and upon finding it, makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is lack of a reliable source of income. I have a child that is sickly suffering from sickle cells which attacks him frequently. It drains all the income I earn from farming and that reduces my household resilience.
