Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The cash I received from GiveDirectly has enabled me purchase a bull which is a form of saving, I intend to sell it at the start of the next academic year so as to pay the children's school fees. Before getting this money, I majorly depended on the surplus food sales for paying school fees. The sales were not reliable and unable to sustain the family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I heard the phone buzzing at mid night. I became very excited when I read the message. I almost ran out of the house due to the overwhelming excitement. However, I remained indoors for security reasons. At that moment I recall failing to sleep. I remained awake till morning.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1,300,000 of my first transfer for buying a bull, a mattress, bed sheets, a bed and clothes . The balance of the money was spent on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to Educate my daughter currently studying in Budaka Highlight secondary school. Iam finding it difficult to raise fees and this is affecting her academic performance at school since she delays reporting school. My daughter will be able to study well with Givedirectly transfers which may led to her getting a job. She will be helping me and the rest of the family members in future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is afternoon hours. Iam busy doing gardening from morning. Thereafter I relax while helping my daughter's in- law do some domestic work. This has United my family and feel happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of money for implementing some of my dream plans. I feel like owing oxen to facilitate easy crop farming but this has never been easy due to lack of money. I can not carry out farming well which could be a better source of income generating activity in the family.
