I was able to buy a cow at 700,000 UGX, and a solar panel at 150,000 UGX, and I also purchased clothings for family worth 250,000 UGX. I also cleared my debt of 300,000 UGX and the remaining 300,000 UGX I am planning to spend it on my family emergencies and programs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly helped me alot with money to start up a new life.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life was worrisome and incomplete. We were surviving in hand to mouth. There is very big difference in that I can now afford good food, and clothings for my family.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on treatment at 300,000 ugx since that transfer came at the time when I was poisoned. I also bought 12 bags of cement at 360,000 ugx and two trips of sand at 140,000 ugx that I used to plaster my already built house. I hired a garden at 500,000ugx for five years and did some shopping for my wife.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I recieved my money, I felt very happy and relived that my wife hurriedly rushed me to a better medical centre since I was poisoned by that time
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I am alive thanks to this transfer following the issue of poisoning. My house now looks beautiful since it's now plastered and cemented.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship am facing is lack of farm land to cultivate crops that can fully sustain my household with food.Renting farm land season after season, is very expensive and sometimes without money I fail to implement my agricultural ideas for a given year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening time is one of my best moments. This is the time when my children and wife are chatting with me.My family members most especially my second born child makes me happy with stories and jokes every evening before he goes to bed.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means an investment to my household. I intend to recover a garden of land that my brother gave out as security, for a loan that he borrowed two years ago.Use this land to grow crops for food and sale part for household income. My second lumpsum will be for buying a second hand motorcycle which will help me carry out "boda boda" bussiness within and outside my village
