How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better in that, I'm living a very happy life because I bought an ox and construction materials for my permanent house. I used to plough my agricultural land almost out of season since I waited for the owners of the oxen to finish theirs. In addition, the house I currently sleep in has been destroyed by rats from the roof unto the floor.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well in giving me the transfers that I used for buying an ox. On the other hand, GiveDirectly has done only good.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have spent part of my second transfer on bricks and food and I intend to spend the balance on more building materials.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life is different now in that, I'm so happy because I have been able to acquire what I lacked in my previous life. I have Bought an ox that will enable me plough on time compared to early days. In the past, I used to go plough for others so that they could return the favor and plough for me also. My heart is filled with joy because I have paid off the land mortgage that has given me full ownership of my land. I also feel relieved now because I have paid school fees for my children.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I saw the mobile money notification on my phone, I ululated and danced for the money sent to me by GiveDirectly. I thanked God for touching the hearts of GiveDirectly's donors for because of him I was able to benefit from the program. I never imagined I would get this large sum of money because I have never witnessed anyone giving out unconditional cash transfers ever since I was born.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I paid school fees for my children to a tune of ugx 140000. I paid off my land mortgage of ugx 500000 which I had borrowed to cater for burial arrangements of my late mother. Since I didn't have oxen for ploughing, I bought one bull to ease farming and I paid ugx 1060000.
