How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I live a very happy and peaceful life after getting this money. I was able to add more livestock to the ones I had since I solely depend on oxen for ploughing. Secondly, I was able to get back my land and hire more so that I can farm on a large scale. In addition to that, I managed to acquire grass for thatching my house which almost collapsed due to heavy rains. Previously, I did not have enough land to farm on therefore I could depend on borrowing farmland. Lastly, We were affected with famine but after getting the money I managed to feed my family using this money.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my view, I was able to get most of the things I did not have previously. These involved livestock, farmland, groundnut seeds and renovate my house. If it wasn't of GiveDirectly, I would have stayed the same living a life without hope. On my side I didn't see anything wrong done by GD.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my transfer on hiring and paying off land mortgage. Previously I used my land as collateral security to get money to pay medical bills. Secondly I spent my transfer on renovating my grass thatched hut. The remaining money I spent it on feeding since there wasn't enough food.
