received a $397 second payment.
"The transfers had been so far of great help. My husband and I had not been in good terms for the longest time, a situation that forced us to part ways. I left my matrimonial home and went back to my parent’s because I could not bear the daily fights and quarrels. I left with nothing but I thank God for the financial help that I have been receiving from GiveDirectly because so far, I have managed to start building my own house and also buying a few household items. With the second transfer, I spent $140 on construction and by now it is almost done and I can longer wait to see it completed. I also managed to buy a bed and a mattress costing $72, bought food worth $45, paid $25 for school fees for my school-going child, bought a phone worth $50 and also bought two goats because I would also love to start a livestock-rearing project. I, therefore, saved the remaining part of $138 because I have the dream of finishing up my house construction and I greatly that GiveDirectly for having this type of program."

"I had been so grateful for the transfers that I have been receiving from GiveDirectly. For the longest time, I have been facing a lot of financial challenges because getting money had been a challenge for my husband and I owing to the fact that we no longer have reliable sources of income. The house that we have been living in had been in a bad condition and whenever it rained, we were rained on, but the transfers that I have been receiving had been of great help and with the recent one of $550, I spent $390 in completing the remaining part of the house. Food was also another challenge for my family, and since the stock that I had was almost depleted, I decided to buy a sack of maize worth $60. I also spent $40 on paying school fees for 2 of my children and bought a goat worth $40 believing that it would be of great help in the future."

received a $397 second payment.
"The transfers that I received was of great help to me because I received them at a time when I was in dire need of money. I had commenced the construction of two rental houses which were halfway completed, and due to the lack of money, I could not carry on with them. I was also stressed because I was required to settle school fees for my two children who were in primary school and also to buy new items for the one who was to join junior high school, and considering the family’s financial situation, nothing was working for us. Luckily I received the transfers and I felt like I was relieved of a huge burden. I managed to buy the roofing sheets worth $300 so that I could finish up on the construction project, I also paid school fees for the primary school-going children worth $100 and bought school items for the child who was yet to join junior high school where I also spent $100. With the remaining amount of $30, I managed to buy food for my family and currently, I feel much more relaxed and happy for the great financial support that GiveDirectly accorded us."
