"Even though I just completed building my new house, the one room is not enough for my two grandchildren, my herdsman, and me. I wish to expand one more room, which the three will be occupying. To accomplish this, I wish to set aside some of the upcoming cash transfers to start buying building materials. I will be happy if this is completed within the next year to give room for other goals as well."

"Apart from buying food, I cannot think of a pressing goal that I wish to accomplish in the coming years. Hunger is a major concern in my household, which can only be alleviated by my contributing towards the purchase of food. If only the rains would persist so that I could grow and harvest food from my farm, I could spend my cash transfers on other things like starting a business. However, right now my focus is more on buying food for my five grandchildren."

"In the coming four years, I wish to support the education of my grandson Robert. He recently joined high school where he pays at least $50 in tuition every term and $10 in accommodation. Since his father is mentally challenged and can barely work to support him, am left with the responsibility to take care of him and his five younger sisters. Sadly, my charcoal-burning practice cannot cover all of his expenses. This makes me turn to cash transfers as the main source of funds that will pay for Robert's education until he graduates from secondary school."

"I would have loved to start and operate a vegetable-selling business as a means of income, but that would leave my herd of at least 20 goats with no one to attend to them. Since running the business seems challenging as of now, I wish to continue raising my livestock and growing the herd by buying more goats. Just as the business could bring me an income, am certain that rearing goats will build me more wealth which I could sell and make an income to settle the needs of my wife and me. So, this is what I want to focus on in the coming years."

"I am happy that the previous cash transfers allowed me to build a new one-room house after the old one collapsed. However, during construction, I transferred some of the old iron sheets to the new structure. When the rains started, I found that the roof was letting in water through the old iron sheets, which dampened my room. My focus is renovating that side of the house by installing a new tin roof. Despite the tight financial constraints in my household, I hope to be able to save some money to start buying the roofing materials and seal the damage."

"I am planning to buy more goats, which to me are an investment because when they reproduce and increase in number, I can readily sell them to raise more money and cater for my financial needs. I have been saving Ksh 1500 every month for this purpose, and I am planning to save more in order to achieve this goal."

"I am planning to buy livestock, which is a good investment for me. I rely mainly on subsistence farming, and buying some goats, rearing them, and letting them reproduce will supplement my sources of income. To achieve this, I will continue to save Ksh. 1500 in my savings account and later buy the goats."

"My goal has been to build a decent house since I have been staying at my daughter's house. This is after my house collapsed some years ago and I wasn't able to construct a new one at my own cost. I managed to buy 12 pieces of iron sheets after saving a portion of the money every month for the past few months. I am now planning to buy building poles in the months to come to start the construction project. I am tired of living in a house that doesn't belong to me and where I do not enjoy privacy due to the presence of my grandchildren."

"Seeing my children successfully go through high school and complete their studies is my top priority. I currently have two children in high school, and I believe through this program, I will be able to finance their education by paying their fees on time. This will allow them to have smooth learning and achieve their educational goal, which is key to their success in the future life. Thus my main objective is to use all the available resources to my ability to ensure that they are well-educated, even through the program."

"I currently do not have a new goal besides having the transfers cover my medical expenses and the frequent check-ups that I have to attend. I am battling hypertension at my old age, and the transfers have been my only hope. Paying for my medication has been easy with the transfers, unlike when I had to rely on my grandson to raise money and was still not able to adequately cater for this, and still had no balanced diet as had been recommended by the doctor."
