Jumwa
received a $25 sixth payment.
"In the coming years, I want to have bought more goats. I am grateful that the transfers from March and February this year allowed me to obtain two goats which have thankfully survived to date. I am more inclined towards rearing goats because they can survive extreme weather conditions like drought compared to other kinds of livestock. Since am advanced in age and cannot work to fend for my family’s needs, establishing wealth through livestock keeping is the best alternative I could contribute towards the household expenses. I hope to spend the cash transfers to realize this goal."

Nyevu
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"I was disappointed after my cattle perished from the adversities of the persistent drought in my area. I cannot imagine how much wealth I would have grown had they survived and given birth to offspring. Gladly, with the cash aid from Give Directly, I see hope in venturing back to rearing livestock, although I wish to switch to goats because they are more resilient than any other livestock. Owning goats will allow me to generate funds at any point in time to meet a pressing need such as buying food or supporting the education of my grandchildren."

Brian
received a $403 second payment.
"I built a fishpond for $25 because I wanted to venture into a different type of business with better revenues and a readily available market, and I was never disappointed because I have already enjoyed the outcome and am more motivated to do more. I also used a portion of the transfers to add stock to my agrovet business, where I had difficulty having a variety of chemicals due to financial inadequacy. Now, I am supplying them in large quantities for those who do tendering and providing them with different varieties, as compared to before, when I would link them to the next agrovet that had good products. I was able to top up some of the extra cash from my agrovet business revenue, to the remaining transfer amount, which I then use to finish my house. And right now I live happily with my family."

Grace
received a $389 second payment.
"I bought land for $45 and it feels like a big chunk of stress has been rolled off my spine right now. For many years, we have lived at the mercy of my brother-in-law; my husband lost his ability to speak partially a few years ago, and it is only when his brother helped us with a place to live that we have found no peace, because he kept reminding me after every minute that we do not own anything whenever we disagree on something. With his current state, he is unable to even find a casual job because people prefer those with whom they can converse, as compared to him, who was struggling to be understood. We also spent $4 on school fees for the entire term, and I am relieved that my daughter will not be returned home for obvious reasons. Finally, food is one of the most stressful things, especially when children are involved, so we had to spend the remaining amount on it. We thank God for making this possible through GiveDirectly."

Hyzel
received a $147 initial payment.
"It was a heartwarming moment for me and my family the moment I realised that I have received my first $200 transfers from Give Directly. The moment was truly unforgettable, and it showed how even the smallest act of kindness can have a significant impact on someone's life. We have been trying our best to meet our needs since the little we had was used up to prepare land for tomato farming.
We have been struggling to make ends meet, living in conditions that were far from ideal made our future look bleak. However, all that changed when I received the generous sum of $200. The impact was immediate, and our whole demeanor changed."

Jonathan
received a $330 second payment.
"Right from the beginning of the program, we were treated with great respect and received excellent service. During the sensitization meetings, we were given a clear understanding of the program's objectives and purpose. We were also allowed to ask questions, and the responses we received were thorough and considerate. The program was conducted transparently, and we did not encounter any fraudulent activities. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the organization's services, and there were no unforeseen issues."

"The support we received from GiveDirectly has made a tremendous difference in our lives. Thanks to the funds, we were able to clear our children's school fees, and they are now receiving a quality education. The program's unconditional approach gave us the freedom to allocate the funds according to our specific needs, without any restrictions. We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact it has had on our standard of living. From my point of view, I did not observe any inefficiencies in the execution of the program."

""Have you ever imagined watching your children crying because of hunger?" This is the reality of my life at the moment. Considering my charcoal work which is low paying and time-consuming, it usually takes me a month to make $32. This money is hardly enough to sustain all our needs and consequently, my children have been on the bad end. They have always been sent home due to a lack of fees. As a father, I have felt the pain of desperately watching them miss classes. In addition, I am forced to do this work despite having some metal plates in my hand. The pain after doing this work makes me weak and I usually feel depressed. What a life! I, therefore, consider the lack of a reliable source of income as my main challenge."
