"I am the fourth of six children with a mother who is a farmer and a father who is hired to herd cattle and he is the primary breadwinner. I also have older siblings who live in the city trying to make something of themselves. my oldest brother is responsible for our school fees payments as what my parents earn is not enough to take care of schooling. I hope to continue using my transfers on school hopefully until I can clear school. I believe this will allow me to focus without distractions on missing out on school so much and I will be able to make something of my self once I finish school and get a good grade."

"Since my partner passed away two years ago, I have been living a life of hopelessness. I am uneducated and unskilled, and it has never been easy for me to take care of six children alone. I relied solely on menial employment to make ends meet. My biggest problem lately has been having to raise their school fees. They would stay at home for weeks, which was a result of not paying the fees on time. This has broken my heart and caused me frustration. At times, I wish their father was still alive to support me. I occasionally thought I was losing it because I couldn't see any light ahead of me or get assistance from my in-laws. However, my main goal is to make sure that their academic path is successful and helps them establish their future. As a result, I don't take for granted the support that has given my children the chance to carry on their education. Even once the program is over, I believe the goats I purchased will help fund the educational needs of my kids. I am m grateful to GiveDirectly for their efforts to make my family content."

"Around 11:00 in the morning, as I was having breakfast, my daughter-in-law informed me that I had just received my first transfer. I was overjoyed to be able to fulfil my long-term ambition of building a new house. All of my family members, including my children, who weren't at home at the time, had to be called. They were all unable to maintain their calmness. This will certainly go down as one of my happiest days ever."

"In addition to meet the family daily needs, I had a goal of starting a grocery business. Therefore, as I receive my transfers, I will save a portion towards that goal. I prefer business because in the long run, when I obtain self reliance, I shall be able to take care of my family comfortably. I hope the business will supplement my husband's income to enable us to cater for our seven children's educational needs. This is attainable due to the longevity of the program I am part of."

"Even though we live on a plot of land, I constantly feel that it is insufficient for our heritage. We are six brothers, and obtaining a larger parcel of land would be advantageous to us in the long run. As a result, I intend to save money to purchase a piece of property. Because we do not have a father, I believe getting a second plot will be extremely useful to the family. I also want to further my education by enrolling in a mechanic course so that I can consistently support my family."

"I have a strong desire to increase my investments in cows and chickens. I am already involved in these ventures, but I would love to expand my investment further in order to save money for my children's future, specifically to cover their secondary education fees. By investing more in these areas, I hope to secure the financial resources necessary to support my children's educational journey."

"The house we're currently living in is mud walled. With time, the walls fall off and as it is now, the house is weak and is on the verge of collapsing. My plan is to build a permanent house for my family of five. To be able to do this, I need to have a large sum of money but I am glad that GiveDirectly transfer will come in handy. This is because we will pool our transfer with my spouse and top up with some savings that I have. Having a permanent house will mean that we live in a more comfortable house with less fears of the house breaking down especially at night. Maintaining it is also less costly and it’s easier to always maintain it clean."

"My hope is to witness my children successfully complete their education. As a means of generating income to cover their school fees, I have traditionally invested in cows. However, I aspire to expand my investments in cows in order to provide better financial support for my family."
