Walter
received a $466 third payment.
"I spent part of my third transfer on building a toilet and a bathroom. For years, I suffered a lot from lack of well constructed toilet. I frequently had problems with health officers who visited my village almost on a daily basis to arrest those who had poor sanitation. I was always a victim and could hardly escape the fines imposed on such like offences. Secondly, i paid school fee for my forth born daughter in secondary school. I was glad that I would be relieved from this fee burden for the next one year. Finally, I renovated my house which had become so ugly since the death of my spouse."

"I spent part of my third transfer on buying two cows for milking. I have never had cows before and I saw this as an opportunity to have my own. I also bought sand that I used to smear my house. I am grateful for the money as I have moved a step forward."

"I used most portion of my third transfer to buy three cattle which I have used to pay dowry for my wife because we have stayed for long and it was like an over stayed debt. I used some amount on transportation and also gave my parents-in-law some money as part of dowry. The remaining amount, I spent to buy sheep for rearing."

"I spent my third transfer on paying school fees for my daughter who was in high school 20,000 KES but unfortunately she dropped out of school and ran away from home, at moment I don't know her aware about. I built spacious one roomed house as a sleeping place for my grown up daughter since the traditional custom states that grown up daughter shouldn't sleep in the same house with their parents .I also bought school stationery for my children's education and a bag of maize for my family's consumption."

"I used a portion of my third transfer to pay school fees for my child who is in high because I did not want her to be sent home for school fees, I bought cement and sand which I have used to renovate the house I was living in from mud to plastered because I did not want to be stressed up looking for cowdung to smear my house. The remaining amount, I spent to buy a cow which will soon provide my family with milk and to always remind me of GiveDirectly."

Jane
received a $466 third payment.
"I spent the whole of my third transfer on livestock farming. According to my community's belief, a stable family was required to own livestock for future emergencies such as deaths and payment of school fees. I therefore opted for the livestock which could help save my transfer for future payment of my children's school fee."

Joan
received a $463 third payment.
"I spent most of my third transfer on constructing a new spacious house to replace the tiny one that I ha before. I was living this kind of life where children were forced to seek for accommodation elsewhere simply because the house we owned could not fit all of us. I am glad that my children no longer suffer for a place of sleep. They currently own a bedroom where they comfortably conduct their studies without any interference."
