Millicent
received a $463 third payment.
"I spent my third transfer on purchase of a second hand motor cycle for 47,000 KES for the purpose of transportation and supply of vegetables to a School in place of Secondary School fee for our child who is a Form 3 Student. Before we bought the motor cycle using GD grant, we used to pay 800 KES towards transporting the vegetables to the school which is 250 km away from our home, yet we had no option since that is how we raise his school fee (the calculations are done at the end of the School term). The motor cycle has made all the difference in our lives since we only fuel it, and get to save the bi-weekly 800 KES that we spent before GD supported us. In addition, my husband uses the motor cycle once every week (Wednesdays) to transport people, and he gets to give me 200 KES at the end of the day, not to mention that he ferries me to wherever I need to go, especially Church functions and this way we get to save money and time as well .
I am very thankful to GD because again, I spent about 6,000 KES from my first transfer on 10 kilograms of certified maize seed and fertilizer on 1 acre piece of land, and harvested a whooping 7 bags of corn (1 bag is 90 kgs) and as we talk right now my family has plenty of food since corn is our staple food. Before GD support, I used to plant ordinary maize seed and had no fertilizer, and I remember harvesting only 2 bags of corn from a 2-acre piece of land at most in any one given season, (which translates to 1 bag per acre). I thank God for GD, that this time round I am able to comfortably feed my family of 10 people which had never happened before."
