"In the upcoming year and beyond, my primary goal is to construct a home for the comfort and well-being of my children. At present, my eldest child is seven years old, and I recognize that cohabitating with them in my existing residence may compromise my personal privacy. To address this, I intend to build a separate dwelling for my growing family. I am immensely appreciative of the financial support I have received, which has enabled me to improve my overall health through nourishing meals and has allowed me to transition away from physically demanding manual labor jobs that I used to engage in."

"Working with GiveDirectly has been an incredibly positive journey, and I express deep gratitude for the remarkable changes witnessed in our village. Previously, numerous individuals in our village struggled to pay school fees, engage in agricultural ventures, or undertake housing projects, but thanks to GiveDirectly's assistance, these transformations became attainable realities. The monetary support provided by GiveDirectly was adeptly tailored to meet the unique needs of each household, which was highly appreciated. While we acknowledge the three rounds of support received, we remain hopeful for continued assistance and aspire to see this initiative expanded to benefit other villages in similar need."

"Due to insecurity in our previous home, we were displaced. We lost some of our neighbors and other relatives due to the conflict. Bandits would attack our homes and steal our cattle. We lost all our livestock as a family in early 2022. We came here to save our lives and start over again. It's really hard here due to the unfavourable climate and rocky areas. It's not suitable for farming. We also borrowed this place to set up a home. We're always worried if the owner may send us away. This has affected our lives, we cannot get enough income to sustain a family well."

"GiveDirectly has truly made a significant positive impact on our lives, which we deeply appreciate. The organization's commitment to assisting individuals was evident through their thorough approach of visiting every household in the village, ensuring that each member received equal attention and support. The provision of unconditional cash support has proven to be an exceptional approach that other organizations should consider adopting. This approach empowered us to make informed decisions about our spending and cultivate a sense of gratitude for the outcomes we achieve despite the challenges we encounter, as they are a result of our choices. It is worth noting that all the promises made during the enrollment process were fulfilled, and I hope that this same level of dedication and support can be extended to other underserved communities in need."

"Currently been facing a lot of challenges as I have just been released from prisonl about three weeks ago so it's alof trying to catch up with family and all activities around. I have no job, and yet I have to avail food for my family members. It's so hard getting a start point from prison as I have been imprisoned for about three years now. Also, I got very ill when the sentence was done, and now I am receiving medication from mbale Hospital. It's very expensive, and yet I don't have money to enhance my treatment."

"What gives me sleepless nights is the fee arrears for my children that have accumulated in school. Currently, I have a balance of $400 which is pending and this have led them to frequently miss classes. As a parent, I have always felt the pain of watching them desperately at home while others are in school. This has directly affected their performance, a situation that has worried me most. In addition, we usually spend our nights on the earthen floor because we lack beddings. What a life of sorrow! Therefore, I consider financial crisis being my biggest challenge."

"I have a family of 9 children, among them, 7 are schooling. This has put a lot of pressure on me because balancing between food and school fees is a big problem. Considering my job as a casual laborer at the quarry site, my income is very low, usually $10 per week, an amount which I use to support them in school. This has affected their studies and recently, 3 of them in primary school missed exams due to fee arrears of $50. As a parent, I felt so bad watching them desperately at home and this has denied me happiness. What a life!"

"Imagine 3 years of failed seasons and I could not harvest from my farm! The drought has exposed me to a biting hunger that has affected our health status as a family. At home, I live with my aged husband and 2 young grandchildren who can not actively engage in farming. This means I am the only one to participate in farming. Despite having received rain this year, I could not harvest much because my effort was limited. This has put us into a disastrous situation of food insecurity and I consider this as my biggest challenge."

"In the coming year and beyond, my goal is to achieve self-employment, and I am considering entering the livestock trade as my chosen path. Currently, my existing source of income is quite limited, leading to difficulties in adequately providing for my family. The livestock industry, however, presents significant profit potential. I bring some prior experience to the table, having previously engaged in this business as a favor to a friend. Nevertheless, I am extremely grateful for the financial assistance I've received through transfers, which has enabled me to cover my daughter's school fees."
