"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is having to lose my husband in March last year. He was an engineer and away in Uganda. He died after falling off a plant operator. We lost a father, a friend and a sole breadwinner of the family, thus the challenge is having to raise my family a lone. I have had to work extra hard to take them through school and other basic needs. "

"The biggest hardship I am facing in life is lack of reliable source of income. I depend on casual labor services that is unreliable and tedious. This makes it difficult to provide for my family's basic needs like food and clothes."

"The biggest hardship I have ever faced was when all our cows died due to a disease outbreak. It was our main source of livelihood and live became difficult after that but we thank God because he has seen us through all that. "

"I intend to use my transfers on investing in a new business at my rural home and here in Nairobi. I have plans to open up a motorcycle spare parts shop in my rural home. There has been a surge in the motorcycle business back at my rural home and I believe there will be ready market when I provide spare parts closer to them. I also plan to open up a retail shop here in my neighborhood in mathare, as some commodities are difficult to obtain unless we walk far distances. I feel a retail shop will be convenient for the community here, and will also offer ready market in business. Secondly, I intend to build a house for myself back at my rural home. I lack my own house in my rural home and I find it uncomfortable to stay at my parents house. Finally, I will put the rest of my transfers into savings."

"I would like to open a cosmetic shop. My aunt gave me a small shop to put up my business. There are a lot of salons in my area and hope to take advantage of them and be able to maximise on profit. I would also want to support my aunt financially since she has no job. I will be paying school fees for her children. Finally, I would also pay rent where I stay with my aunt. She is the one who has been taking care of me."
