"Being a housewife I depend on my husband to get food, clothing and medical needs. My husband supports me with 1500 shillings in a month and it is not sufficient to sustain the family. It is quite difficult to live a decent life because I keep on borrowing commodities such as soap and flour from the shops and my neighbours. With this transfer, I will start a grocery business at Maryango center and purchase a dairy cow to produce milk for sale. I will also buy oxen which I will use to plough my land and for commercial purposes . Through these, I will have a stable income to cater for my family needs and enroll in a polytechnic to learn hairdressing, a profession that I have always desired to become."

"My husband sells water in Mombasa, a source of income that we solely depend on. This job is unreliable and does not provide enough money to sustain the family. He supports me with only 500 shillings in a month, an amount that is unable to cater for food, medical and clothing needs for the family. In line to this, I consider financial constraint as my biggest hardship."

"Losing my wife to cancer of the liver left me sad and financially ruined. I had to sell my livestock and incur a lot of debt from family and friends in order to seek treatment for my wife. To date, am still repaying some of the debts yet I do not have a stable income. Due to my genital conditions, I am sometimes unable to work and I mostly depend on my children who work as casual labourers in Mombasa for upkeep. Financial instability has been my biggest struggle in life. "

"As a group we decided to contribute some amount of money to be able to buy land, build some houses and then rent them out. That is my first priority. Money from that will enable me plan for my future and as a group we will be able to help each other. I can also invest in opening an electronics business for my son. He did not do very well in his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) examations, so I would want him to run the business and be able stand on his own. Secondly, I want to invest in my exsiting business. I sell second hand clothes on the streets, I would want to buy new clothes and still sell. I can also open a shop( kiosk) and sell food stuff. Profits fro it will help me feed my family and pay house rent. I would want to start a business of cooking and selling chickens for people to buy. Lastly, I would want to buy a screen. My children go to neighbours to watch television, and they tend to get bored at home without it, thus I would want them to have a screen at home."

"My top concern is police violence because, police usually suspect any group of youth sitting together, hence if they found any youths in group, they will start bullying them by searching pockets so as to find something like bang, knife, i mean anything that can leads to a reason for arrest, this usually affect friendship within community, because of fear of being harassed hence many prefer walking alone or staying in doors."
