"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have gathered enough money to use in paying for my school fees. I will no longer be doing the hectic casual jobs with the aim of accumulating my college fees. I must admit that the transfers have changed my life and is continuing to change it because I am less worried and more ambitious. With me acquiring a course, I believe It would land me a good job some day."

Alex
received a $369 second payment.
"The only goal I now have is to be a successful person in life. I am currently pursuing a course in building and construction engineering. With this I am optimistic that I will be an independent person in future. With the current industrialization and rapid growth of towns in my country, I am assured of an employment opportunity after I have acquired my certificate because few people have studied this course."

Sabina
received a $533 second payment.
"I view my life as different because I was able to buy a sewing machine using the transfer. This has created a business opportunity as I train the apprentice in my small shop and also use to make clothes for my village people and I get paid. I now have a means of earning daily income for my family. We now eat well and dress well too because of this income. I am proud to be self-employed!"

Dismas
received a $533 second payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to buy an ox for ploughing hence I no longer practice labour exchange with my neighbours which was time-consuming. I am glad that I have been able to cultivate a bigger parcel of land unlike before when I used to cultivate my farm by hands or do labour exchange, as a result, the yields were little because I could complete cultivating my farm late. For instants, I had to work on my neighbours' farm as well to get money and buy my farm inputs such as seeds. Therefore, I am certain of enough yields at the end of this harvest to feed my family and sell part of it for an extra income."

Raulex
received a $533 second payment.
"My life is now different as I received the transfer from GiveDirectly and used buy building materials i.e. iron sheets, nails and timber to build a new house for my second wife. We used to have constant quarrels so much with my second wife about the house. Now we live a peaceful life as I managed to build her the new house unlike previously when I could not as only earn meagre pay from casual work which caters for both food and school fees for our children."

Angella
received a $448 second payment.
"My life is different in that I now have my personal garden land that I acquired using the first transfer. This garden land has given me a different stand in life. I can farm my personal food and sustain my family as compared to before where I had to hire a small piece of land to farm and as the season is not over, I am forced to remove my farm produce because the owner needs their land. This made my family and I to always suffer from famine issues.
Owning some livestock as well has greatly changed my life. This is because with this livestock, it acts as personal investment. When my cow calves, I can drink some milk which will improve my health through the food values I get from milk and also sell some milk to bring in a daily income. Before getting this transfer, earning money was very difficult because I had to go to other people's gardens to dig and make money. "

Florence
received a $448 second payment.
"My current situation is different in that I have finished building my house. This has made my lifestyle easy in terms of renovating the house and comfort as compared to before where I had to buy grass every year. When there is no money to renovate the grass thatched house, my family and I could sleep in a leaking house with great discomfort as the beds get wet during the rainny season."

Rose
received a $448 second payment.
"My life is different in that I now have a cow that I never had and was saving towards for along time but to no success. Along with the garden that I hired, this cow will act as my investment. I will cultivate some crops for commercial use and add up with some money that I will get after selling off a calf to keep my son in school. Before, I used to brew alcohol to keep my only son in school and raising the fees was close to impossible because I had to do other extra activities such as toil in other people's gardens to raise the amount needed in school."

"My life has changed because I have managed to shift and build my own home away from my in-laws who had become a problem to me. They used to make decisions for me and quarrel on a slight mistake making my stay with them very difficult. In my new home currently, I make my own decissions. "
