Jimmy

"My life is different in that I now have peace in the church, I topped up the money we raised as the church with the first transfer, to build the house of the Lord. We now fellowship in a good structure. The music instruments that we lacked as a church, has been bought using the second transfer. We are now able to preach the Gospel with mighty power. May God bless GiveDirectly as well as the donors."

Erick
received a $528 second payment.
"My life is totally different compared to the past one. I did not have a house of my own, and being a family man, I felt embarrassed to seek for refuge from neighborhood with my wife and a child. Sometimes the owner could come from the city without notice, and could result to leaving even if it could be at night. It is true that a miracle has happened and couldn't believe that I own a house of my own."

"Financial constrains is the biggest hardship i am currently facing. I work as a security guard and the money i earn aint sufficient to cater for the needs of my family. My three children study in a nearby academy school meaning i spend a bigger part of my salary in school fees which keeps me asking myself whether i will ever engage in bigger projects like building a bigger house and getting capital to start my own business."

Aggrey
received a $366 second payment.
"I spent my recent transfer on buying Second-hand clothes for
sale. I used KES 30000 on the business This is two large bales of the second-hand clothes that I will be trading in to generate a good income. I then used the remaining amount on buying foodstuffs and in paying school fees. The foodstuffs that I bought with the transfers were shopped and stoke so that I don't run have to draw money from my business on a daily basis. This is because I want to monitor well the progress of my business."

Samson
received a $527 second payment.
"My life is different than it would have been if I had never received the transfer in that, I managed to buy my own motorcycle using the first transfer. This has brought peace of mind in my life because I am my own boss. I do not have to struggle to go gamble for casual jobs which are normally not easy to do but difficult to find also. When I missed getting a casual job, I could resort to weeding sugarcane. This were the worst days of my life because weeding sugarcane is never easy. You spend the whole day but paid very little despite the hard work"
