Sharon
received a $23 sixteenth payment.
"In the six months, one of my children will be in her final grade in primary school, sitting for her final year exams. I am sure that since I have a flow of cash she will study without being interrupted in this important and final year of primary studies. I expect that by the time she will be sitting for exams I will have cleared all her fee arrears and the will not be disturbed by being sent back home for school fees."

Luwali
received a $525 second payment.
"Were it not for GiveDirectly coming to our village, I would still be hiring oxen in my farming practice rather I would still be incurring the costs of hiring which is expensive to me. I would also be doing my farming on a small acreage leaving a bigger portion of the farm unutilized. This would lead to my family not having enough food to last us till the next harvest. I am glad that will change for GiveDirectly made it possible for me to own the pair of oxen. To me, having the pair which I paid nothing from my pocket is the biggest achievement in my life."

Ali
received a $525 second payment.
"First, I would now be in a continuous misunderstanding with my in-laws concerning the bride price that I had promised to honour. Were it not for GiveDirectly, it would have been a difficulty for me to raise the KES 44,000 that I paid immediately after receiving the transfer. Also, GiveDirectly enabled me to purchase goats which I could not manage to buy at my own cost. It gives me pride in owning these goats as they are my assets. Lastly, I used part of the transfer to buy a solar panel and this has relieved me the cost of buying kerosene on a daily basis. My children are now studying comfortably, courtesy of GiveDirectly and I also earn some money on a daily basis from charging peoples phones. Though someone may see the money I get using it as little, it means a lot to me."

George
received a $23 eleventh payment.
"I want to be able to fully venture into farming so that I can eventually quit my current job which is very hectic yet very poorly paying and become self employed in the next six months. I have come to realize that farming pays well and all it requires is dedication which is what I want to practice so that I can turn my life around financially."

Paul
received a $23 sixteenth payment.
"I expect my life to change in the next six month because with the merry go round contributions that I expect to get in the next five months, I have planned to purchase a dairy cow to increase my current stock. The cow will add value to my asset size as well as I will have an increased volume of milk production with which I can sell for extra income"

Victor
received a $23 sixteenth payment.
"My life will have changed in the next six months, in that I would have bought a plot. This asset will be the foundation of my future investment which I am aiming at. I intend to build some rental houses. When I get some customers to rent, I will get some income by collecting the house rent. This will enable me to meet all my family needs on time. It will also be a permanent reminder to my family of GiveDirectly's good deeds towards us."

Humphrey
received a $23 fifteenth payment.
"In the next four months of my life, I expect to have raised enough money to enable me to start up a business. I am planning to save for four months in order to accumulate enough capital. I am still doing my research in order to understand the type of business that would do well in our area and the logistics of managing a business and ensuring it becomes successful."

Mary
received a $23 sixteenth payment.
"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have started saving some money to continue paying school fees for my children on time. This will make them have enough time to study as they will not be disturbed frequently by being sent back home due to lack of school fees."
