"Receiving this money means a financial stable home for us. My husband works as a "tuktuk" driver in Mombasa but his job is not reliable because he only gets contracted for just 2 to 3 days a week. We plan to create a more stable source of income by purchasing a motorcycle that he will be operating in Bamba center where he will make more money. We will then be able to meet our needs of food, housing and education for our children much easier."

"Given that I was diagnosed with a liver problem which I have treated for over a year, the biggest difference in my daily life is the great improvement I feel in my health. This is because I can now freely operate normally compared to before when I always felt cold, had to ask for support at every time and have an all time bloated stomach. In addition to this, seeing that I was able to get back land that my forefathers had mortgaged, I feel happy and relived knowing that I now have enough farm land. Prior to getting this transfer, I always had only one piece of farm land that hardly could accommodate enough crops to cater for my whole family. This at times made me to hire more farm lands and at worse cases, my family and I go doing casual labor to raise money to make ends meet."

"My daily life's biggest difference is the relief I feel seeing that I was able to pay up my children's University tuition as it was a great challenge for me. Prior to getting this money, I used to add up my salary with the income I got from selling off the harvests I got from farming."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the mixed feeling of anxiety and happiness seeing that I am building a permanent iron roofed house. This will then relieve me from the issues of a leaking grass thatched roof, yearly looking for the already expensive and scarce grass, and rodents."

My husband is a water vendor in Mombasa a job that is unpredictable. I am planning to spend my first transfer to start a shop business at home which will keep me busy also it will act as a long term source of income."

"Food Security for our family is what receiving this money means. Currently, I am depending on my spouse's earnings from his job as a charcoal burner. His income is very little to cater for our family's basic needs like food. I am doing subsistence farming in order to supplement my husband's income. The harvest from our farm is just a handful because I using a hoe for farming. Am planning to purchase oxen and ox-plow. This will increase my harvest from my farm, hence it will drastically change our life for the better."

"My mother in law was diagnosed with diabetes and has been I'll for a long time. While it is hard to get money for our own household needs, my husband and I have had to shoulder the responsibility of meeting the cost of some of her medication. We do not have a sustainable source of income and my biggest worry is that we may soon fail to raise money to foot her bills and increasing trips to the hospital. This is the biggest hardship I've faced in my life."
