Miriam
received a $22 twenty-fifth payment.
"Previously, I have been living in a one-room house that served as a kitchen, living, and bedroom to my family. In the next six months God willingly I will have successfully built a kitchen which I have ever dreamt of. Thanks to GiveDirectly because the kitchen serves as a bedroom for my children at night and a cooking place during the day."

"In the next six months, I will be doing better in my grocery business. I will plough back my profits to ensure that I keep getting more for paying my children's school fees. With the hope of starting a poultry keeping and goat keeping business, I expect to have increased my income because of the more profitable nature of this business."

Rose
received a $534 initial payment.
"I was already up helping my children get ready to go school when my child told me that I had a message on my phone. I was so happy and excited on checking and confirming that I had received the transfer that Givedirectly had promised to send. We celebrated and thanked God as a family."

Patrick
received a $534 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I no longer spent so much money on a daily basis on the usual daily household stuff such as food and therefore I am able to save. This is due to the fact I was able to buy food in bulk that would take us for some time. This is unlike our usual way of buying food for that particular day. I am also happy that I can now sit comfortably in my chairs after buying cushions. I am also glad that I now have a cow in my name. This is a great motivation for me to always work hard and improve my lifestyle and that of my children."

Sarah
received a $520 second payment.
"The biggest difference in my life when I managed to pay school fees for my children. The burden of paying their school fees were overwhelming. My husband had obtained a loan and he would earn little which wouldn't sustain us. We spent the whole amount which I received to pay school fees for our children. We felt relieved after we managed to clear their school fees on time."

Gilbert
received a $521 second payment.
"My life is now different because I am currently owning three cows which I would not have managed to buy on my own cost. One of my future goals was to have at least a good source of income. I feel GiveDirectly has fulfilled this since I will be selling milk as these cows reproduce. I have a young family and hopeful that I will be in a better position to provide since will a herd of cattle."

Alice
received a $521 second payment.
"I majorly depend on subsistence farming which has not been doing well enough to cater for both household daily needs and any other goal in the family. I have children in various schools and my biggest ambition is to see them prosper in their education to allow them to have a better life in the future. Raising their school fees is challenging for me due to the limited resources in our family. Currently keeping livestock with an aim that once they reproduce, I will have milk for both household consumption and sales gives me a the biggest difference in my daily life. I will have offsprings which to me I can always depend on in case of any financial crisis more so to raise my children's education fee and any other household necessity arising. To me having these livestock in my compound is the biggest difference in my daily life. It gives me hope that I can always provide for my family."

Sidi
received a $521 second payment.
"I now have the two heifers, pair of oxen and also some goats which I am currently keeping in my homestead. With the pair of oxen, then I am assured of doing my farming timely unlike before when I would hire and also was using the hoes which were not productive on a bigger acreage. The heifers and the goats will reproduce and I am expecting to educate my children to realize their education goals through them. I was also facing a problem of providing for my family since I lacked money. The little earning from the casual job couldn't fully cater for this. However, ever since I received this transfer, we have never stayed without food in my household."

Kadzo
received a $521 second payment.
"The greatest achievement that I will forever remember is having a decent house to live in that GiveDirectly helped me to build. Had it not been their support, I would still be living in my old, small and grass-thatched hut. I now have access to a good shelter unlike before. I am also happy that I now have my own pair of oxen that will help me to make my farming productive for better harvest. In addition to this, I also replaced my bedding with a new mattress and a new wooden bed. I would not have achieved these if at all I was to pay at my own cost. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for changing my life."
