"For the past 15 years, I have lived like a homeless person in a very poor structure. I struggled a lot to build a good house and I was able to achieve my dream last year. However, the house is incomplete and my desire to finish the project. The windows and doors are not yet fixed due to insufficient capital. The walls are not yet plastered and they are susceptible to erosion as they are made of soil. Receiving this money therefore means, accomplishing my mission of owning a permanent house."

"The tough economic times have really weighed me down in the recent years . I am a charcoal vendor and the demand is very low;the main reason being lack of money from the customers who have opted for other cheaper means of cooking fuel. Getting an alternative source of income has been a challenge. This has made me stagnate financially because what I get is only enough to cater for food expenses. Paying school fees has remained to be a struggle."

"Building a more spacious iron roofed house at a cost of $300 as well as buying a friessian dairy cow @$350 that will earn me $1.2 daily income of from selling 3 litres of milk has always been my dream that will soon come to reality when I receive this money. I will then spend the remaining amount to add more items to my retail shop hence an assurance of meeting my daily family needs, more so food."

"I have been nursing my leg for a long. I managed to visit different hospitals but I got no assistance. The doctors advised me to visit a specialist but I never managed due to financial problems. When I receive the cash I will use 50,000 to treat my leg, the remaining amount will be used to add more stock in my cassava business which will enable me to get more income to assist in any financial crisis."

"Financial problems are the biggest hardship I have faced in life. As a farmer it is very difficult to afford some important things in my life, this is because I only get 2,000 shillings every month from my job. It is very difficult to complete my house as well as buying a mattress and bed."

"I work as a casual worker in the construction sites which pay me only 500 shillings per day if luck is on my side. Since my income is not consistent, I hardly save for future use and this means my work is a hand to mouth one. My worry has been to fail in caring for the family since I do not save anything, something that has knocked off my happiness. Therefore, the lack of a reliable source of income is the biggest hardship that I have ever faced."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is the betrayal by the father to my two children. The man had initially promised to marry me but later on refused to accomplish it, leaving me with all the responsibilities of caring, educating and providing for my kids. This is a tough challenge to me because I do not have a reliable source of significant income."

"As a family-head and the primary breadwinner, the little income I get from the motorcycle taxi services I offer in my neighborhood is just enough to meet our basic needs. As such, I have never managed to buy another cow to ensure continued presence of milk for consumption by my family members. In our community, milk serves as a priceless staple food. Hence, I have been spending significant amount of money buying milk on daily basis. Thus, receiving this money means that I shall be saving some of income because I shall buy another cow that will provide us with more milk."

"Inadequacy of finance to educate my children has been the biggest hardship I have faced in life. I am s single parent and raising my 3 children alone has been an uphill task since I have been growing maize on my 1 acre piece of land which is hardly enough for both domestic and education expenses. This has forced me to rely on well wishers in order to raised School fees. This has also lowered my self esteem since I feel I have failed as a parent."
