"I lost my husband about five years ago and life has been tough because we no longer have a source of income for our livelihood. He was a retired games ranger and we used to depend on his pension, especially to buy food. Since my age has significantly advanced, I cannot manage to handle certain jobs. Precisely, I am depending on donations from my children to survive. So, his demise served as the biggest hardship I have faced because he used to provide for us."

"I have a child who is joining university this year to pursue his dream course. Unfortunately, we have not managed to raise the needed fees due to the absence of a reliable source of income in our household. My husband usually attains a meager income from his casual jobs. Also, I am just a peasant farmer. Hence, receiving this money means that our son shall join the university since we will afford to raise the required fees."

"I have three children in secondary school, and raising their fees has been tough owing to the little income that my husband gets as a security guard in one of the towns in Kenya. Hence, receiving this money means my children shall have ample study-time unlike before when they used to be out of school coming to collect arrears. Overall, they have better chances of excelling in their studies and pursuing their life goals."

"After the death of my husband, Life became so hard I could not even raise school fees for my own children who were in boarding school. This forced them to change schools and the only school they could enroll was a local day school. So been unable to take my children to a better school became a struggle to me"

"I bought a piece of land somewhere in the year 2015 on a yearly installment basis. Up to date I have not cleared the outstanding balance. Receiving this money means that I will be able to offset the outstanding amount of 70,000 shillings and process the necessary legal documents for the parcel using the remaining amount."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is separating with my lovely wife. This happened because of domestic issues that would have been resolved through having a candid conversation, but my wife could not allow it. It has been 15 years and still counting. She left me with our son who is now in high school. I still love her and I want her back. I am exploring every possible avenue to resolve our differences but I have not been successful. Life has been full of boredom and loneliness and I feel like life is meaningless without her. My son is a constant reminder of the flourishing life I once enjoyed with my wife."

"I am an elderly woman who is unemployed. I always depend on my son who does casual jobs. I have desired to start a livestock business ( buying livestock and selling them immediately) but due to financial challenges, this dream has never materialized. I am planning to spend 70,000 shillings to start the business. I will purchase goats at 3000 shillings each in our interior village and sell them at our nearby market. I can make 500 profit from each goat. In approximately a week, I can sell at least 2. My son is going to run the business on my behalf because I can not perform any task. This is going to generate income for my family and I will be able to sustain all the needs such as food. Also, I will spend the remaining part of the transfer to repair the old roof of my house which leaks during the rainy season."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of sufficient funds to sustain my family's needs. My life has been full of struggles ever since I lost my spouse 7 years ago. I have always wished to build a better house since the current we live in with my grandchildren is too old and tiny but this dream has remained impossible."

"I am a mother of eight children who rely on both casual jobs and subsistence farming to support my family. With such a big household thinking of an investment is a luxury. Receiving this money to me, means my family's future is secured. I am planning to spend part of it to buy livestock. I prefer livestock since these are reliable assets that I can have milk from for both household use and sales. I am hopping to keep the offspring so that I can sell them to meet my children school fees and other basic necessities when they are grown up."

"Receiving this money will help me finish up construction of my house. The house is doorless and the walls are not yet fine. This will cost me 50 USD. I also have a plan of buying an ox and two cows. The ox will help me till my land while the cows will be a source of milk for consumption as well as for sale. The livestock will cost me 500 USD. I will also use 80 USD to pay school fees for my son."
