Leonard
received a $501 initial payment.
"I now have a separate kitchen from the main house unlike before when we used to sleep and cook from the same house. I am also very happy every morning when I take my goats to graze. I bought the goats because they multiply very fast and in no time, I can sell them and can cater for other needs."

"I used the money to build a house since the one I had was smaller. I spent part of the money to plough half an acre of land, bought 2 goats and bought solar battery and bulbs. I also bought clothes and food for my family who are now very happy. I also expanded my maize business."

Joan
received a $501 initial payment.
"With the new cowshed that we plan to build, the cows will no longer be going to other peoples’ farms and we will be able to get manure that is good for farming. The cows will be able to get good care as they will be fed well. With this good management, the milk yield will go up and we will be able to get enough milk for sale. The money from milk sales will enable us to do other things. I have also been able to buy a few bags of maize and hence my family will have something to eat and hence I will not be having any worries for some time."

"To me receiving this money means another chance again in life. I am growing old and need what do rely on without much struggle. I have been relying on subsistence farming and I have lived to admire livestock keeping a dream that I have never realized due to scare resources. I am planning to spend part of the transfer on livestock since once I have them I will have milk for both household consumption and sales for an extra income. I will keep the offspring so I can sell to meet other financial needs."
