"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of a descent and spacious house for my family. My big family of ten is unable to be sustained in the small house I own. After dinner, some of my children are even forced to seek sleeping space from the neighborhood. This exposes my children to the risks of snakebites given that my village is located at the center of a forest."

"Receiving this money means that my children will be well educated. I'm planning to use 600 dollars from this donation to cater for my children school fees. Out of my nine children, six are in school. My parents were unable to educate me because of the retrogressive cultural beliefs that existed during my childhood days. They valued girls as a source of income through the payment of dowry. Irregardless of my illiteracy, it has always been my desire to raise am educated family. This is the reason as to why I'm planning to use a bigger percentage of the money to pay school fees for my children."

"I have been desired to build a good house because my current house is not in good condition such that it lea during rain season . When I receive the money I will use 40,000 Kenya shillings to build a three-roomed house which will accommodate us. I will also use 30,000 Kenya shilling to buy a bed and high-density mattress so that I can sleep comfortably. The remaining amount I will use for my daily basic needs such as food and clothing."

"Receiving money from GiveDirectly means alot to my family. We have been dreaming of building a better kitchen, this kitchen acts also as bedroom for my children. The challenge I am having with the current one is the leaking roof. I have not been happy as a parent seeing my children complaining always of it, more so when it rains at night they have to seek shelter else where. I will be a happy parent after constructing a better kitchen by using around 20,000 shillings from this transfers to purchase building materials and the remaining amount I will purchase a dairy cow because the one I have now is not mine."

"I am a business minded person but lack of capital is what has been pulling me back. With this money from Give Directly ,I will be able to open a grocery business. I will be moving door to door selling vegetables, fruits and other groceries depending on the demand. I will start by investing 50 USD in the business. I also have a plan of rearing goats. I will begin by buying 5 goats each at a cost of 30 USD. Goats multiply very fast and and I know will be a good investment for me within a short time."

"Receiving this money will enable me extend my house from 2 to 3 rooms and make some repairs on the roof and walls. With five children, the house is congested. I have budget 200 USD for the house. School fees has also been a burden for me. I will therefore use 100 USD to pay school fees for my children when schools re open. I also have a plan of buying one dairy cow at a cost of 150 USD. From the cow I can get milk for sale which will boost my income."
