received a $501 initial payment.
"I had not replaced my bedding and that of my children for a long time. When I received the transfer, I spent KES 14000 on buying two mattresses to replace the old ones I have been using. In addition to this, I also purchased five goats which I am keeping as assets. To me, these goats will help me to educate my children who are still young. Apart from this, I also bought a solar panel for lighting my household. Lastly, I spent the remaining amount to pay for my daughters college fees. She was joining to further her studies thus I paid the tuition fees for her to begin her studies."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is owning this cow. I did not have any livestock in my compound thus is this is an asset to me. The little income from the menial jobs may not be enough to save for my children's education. I am glad that having this cow is a security for my children's education. My expectation is that this cow will be reproducing and have many of them . I will be selling the offspring to raise money for my children's school fees."

"Having a dairy cow is the biggest difference in my daily life. This is what o have been yearning to rear for quite a long time but I could not afford it. I opted in keeping the dairy cow becasue it has several benefits and I had an experience of how to look after it. I was employed by one of my neighbors in the village for some years to look after his cows and I do believe I gained a lot of experience. Taking care of my own won't be that difficult. Also, some of the benefits that I will be getting from the dairy cows, is that there will be plenty of production of milk. Whereby some will be for the family consumption and I believe it will boost their health and the remaining liter will be for commercial purposes. I will be supplying them to the nearby town centers and generate an income. The little that I will be earning I will save and start some other projects such as a hotel business. Therefore I will no longer strain in meeting my family's needs as I used before considering the fact that I am a widow."

Jumwa
received a $501 initial payment.
"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some livestock such as a pair of oxen. These have been my well thoughtful living assets that o have been longing to keep mainly for my agricultural activities but I could not afford to keep them. I also bought some building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, threads, nails, and timber. This was to replace the temporary small hut that I have been sheltering on for all those years. With the remaing amount of money, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for my family and some other household items that i was lacking."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some bedding such as a wooden bed and a mattress at KES 9000. This was to replace the old mats to replace the old traditional bed that I have been using for all those years. I later bought a piece of land at KES 30000. This will especially for my agricultural activities since, for all those years, I have been leasing those of friends., Also, I cleared the school fees for my children who are in secondary and primary school. With the reming amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs for my children"

"The biggest difference in my daily life is owning the heifer. This is an asset and I am expecting it to reproduce and increase in number and have many of them. I know I can readily rely on them in case I am faced with a financial need such as educating my children. Besides, I will be getting milk for my family's consumption and sell the surplus and earn an income."
