"I am a mother of four and currently only engaging in farming as my source of income. My husband has no job and has moved to the city yesterday to try find a job. I used to have a grocery stall but I closed it due to the animals as they would devour my stock and I would end up making nothing. I want to find an alternative way of ensuring my family is provided for. I am saving to facilitate the purchase of animals from which I hope to gain an income from by ensuring they procreate so they can multiply in number."

Kadhengi
received a $22 twenty-first payment.
"My mother as I said has been the sole breadwinner since the death of my father. She would buy palm wine from tappers and sell it as a way of making an income. She relied on this fully during this time until we were enrolled to the Givedirectly program. When we got enrolled in the program the burden on her lessened and we were able to chip in financially. I would like to build and income source from the rearing of animals. I now have 2 chicken and 1 goat which is just a start. Using this transfers I hope to add more animals and use them as my source of income as I also look for welding jobs,"

Kahaso
received a $22 twenty-first payment.
"My goal as I said is to build a house for myself. Building is not cheap. It is an expensive affair that would take up a lot of finances. This is especially for roofing. I plan to take out around $60 from my savings and pay a down payment so that the shops can start delivering roofing materials. I plan to continue saving so that I am able to afford building myself a house that would be one worth showing and living in."

"I finished form four in 2020, I am now married. I wanted to join college but I did not have the cash seeing that at the time I still had a deficit at school for unpaid school fees and hence could not even collect my certificate. I had wanted to become an electrician by profession since I noticed the town people usually hire electricians from far to do any electrical work. I wanted to help them reduce the cost used for this as well as establish a source of income. I am now saving to ensure I can start out at school buy March and hopefully achieve this dream."

Eunice
received a $22 twenty-second payment.
"I am a hairdresser, I haven't significant earnings from my work seeing that people here are not as financially endowed, families have to decide what the priorities are and most time people would not budget for hairdressing services as opposed to things that are vital as food products. I want to tap into this market space and ensure I am earning some more money aside from my hairdressing clients. I am planning to take a room in the building I am building and put up a retail shop and rent out the other two shops each at $15 so that I am assured of a monthly income even if I do nit get clients at my business"

"As I said I am an animal herder and I take care of peoples animals in the neighbourhood at a price, between $1 to $5 weekly depending on the number of animals the person has and their financial abilities. This means I make very little. I would want to make more money through other avenues. Our people till their land using ox ploughs, I have two young bulls that I would want to put to work very soon. My goal is to buy the plough which goes for about $6 to $8 which I will use for the bulls and hire them out for people who need their land tilled increasing my sources of income."
