Joyce
received a $491 second payment.
"Receiving the transfer from GiveDirectly was the best thing to have ever happen to me after such a long time of struggle looking for a reliable source of income. In my opinion, the decision to give us a free cash transfer with the freedom to choose how we will spend it was work well done for GiveDirectly.
On the flip side, there was a small percentage of youth that never had a chance to receive the transfer. With the inquiries I made, they were not in a position to receive it since they are not always residing in the village. This was not the best decision in my opinion since as a youth, one is expected to be out at all times trying to earn their own and such a project would have been a great boost to them but they never receive it"

"Owning a cow in our field and currently looking forward to seeing it calving down in the next few months is the biggest difference in my daily life. It has been an excitement every day as it is one of the most promising assets we now have alongside the small house we constructed with the remaining amount."

"The money means a lot to me. As a family, we are really grateful for being considered. The house we are living is very small. I am planning to build a bigger house. I will also buy beddings.
This year, my harvest is not enough. I am planning to buy some bags of fertilizer in readiness of the next growing season. I will also buy more bags of maize to sustain us."
