"In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows and pay school fees. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well in our village."

"I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to complete the construction of the house that I started using the previous transfer. I used to live in small mud house which could not host all the family comfortably. Currently we live in a decent and spacious house with my family. I am so happy because my dream of living in a good house and not being exposed dust had been achieved. I also bought a heifer. I will have milk in the next few months when it reproduce. It will cut the cost of buying milk daily which is so expensive. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard."

"I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly to buy a heifer. I will be in a position to get milk for my family when it reproduce in the next few months. This has been always my wish to own a dairy cow. I also paid school fees for my children in secondary and college. My children were able to study well without being sent home to collect the school fees and this led to improving their grades. I bought furniture which I didn't had before for the house that I renovated and finally food for the family. We didn't had enough food in store when I received the second transfer. I found it wise to buy food and store some. GiveDirectly has change our living standard."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have build a better house. We used to live in a small grass thatched house which was leaking from inside. The house was so old and it could fall down on us anytime. When I had visitors I could take them to spent a night at the neighbor's house. This was so demoralizing since it was so risky to walk at night. It was also not good because there was no privacy. Whenever I had family meetings I could host them outside under a tree becuase there was no enough space inside. In case it rains the meeting could just end like that. My children were also not happy because they didn't have a privacy spending nights at the neighbor's house. Currently I have a spacious and decent house. I no longer shy to welcome visitors to my house, family gathering I host them comfortably without any problem. My children are so happy because they have a room to sleep and also to do there homework. I used to do casual jobs and I didn't had enough money to save to build a house. The money I could get was so small and only for household items. GiveDirectly has change our living standard and we are so grateful for the support."

"My ambition is to be a large scale livestock farmer, in particular a sheep farmer. I am currently a motorcycle rider, this only brings in an income of about $2-$dollars a day which is very little compared to my family size of 4 and the basic needs it can sustain. Sheep multiply in plenty and in a year a sheep can reproduce twice or three times making it easier to have a stable income once I start selling. One sheep goes for about $35, after 2 years they reproduce and you get 3 sheep. They do not need special feeding and so grass will do. That is why I will use most of my first transfer to buy 9 sheep amounting to $250 and the rest in building a fence for security and beautification around my compound."

"I spent $280 of my transfer to construct a decent house and purchase beddings for my son who is mentally ill. This is because he used to sleep in my neighbours house something that kept me worried because of his healthy condition. Additionally, I used the remaining amount to purchase 3 calf in order to boost my livestock selling business. I remained with small amount which I took my wife to the hospital."
