"Since I am a widow and my age has advanced, receiving this money will attract lots of relief. This is because I will use the money on acquiring and raising poultry for consumption and commercial purposes. Due to my old age, I find it challenging to handle some farming tasks such as weeding. Fortunately, poultry keeping tends not to require lots of physical energy, yet it is highly profitable in our vicinity. I will purchase a cow with any remaining amount since the one we have can not provide us with sufficient milk for consumption and sale. Thank you GiveDirectly for coming when I am in much need of financial aid."

"I can't hold my joy. This program will help me in so many ways. My sleeping place is not nice. My blankets are torn and I don't have matresses. I will make sure to buy some beddings when I receive my transfer.

"The biggest hardship that I face is poor health. I have a high blood pressure condition that requires me to constanly take medicine. I am no longer strong enough to work on my farm which was my only source of income and to produce food for the household. I even have to sell my chicken to pay for medicine and to even take care of my ailing husband."

"My life's desire has always been to have better education for my children. However, this dream was shuttered when I lost my husband in 2019 . Before then, we had sold all the cattle to cater for their education. My last born daughter completed grade 12 in 2018 and she has been yearning to further her career in Medical Laboratory Technology but with fail . When I receive this transfers , I intend to use KES 110000 to pay for her school fees. Although this might not be enough to clear her school fees of KES 210000 , but it will go a long way in filling the gap. She will be able to assist me in future as I am aged."

"This means i will buy a dairy cow. I have one but the cow cannot produce enough milk to sustain my household needs. A good dairy cow will cost around KES 40000. I have a daughter who lives with me I would also give a share of the transfer since she was ineligible. The remaining amount will use to buy food for my household. This area i prone to drought so we rely on food from market."

"The biggest hardship has been drought. I have a land but I cannot do farming due to lack of rainfall. I used to work in a nearby farm called Olerai, I would wake up early as 4 am to walk then come back late hours. My husband was not supportive too. The little money i could get from the casual jobs I bought sheep and cows but my husband wouldn't agree so I had to give neighbors to keep for me which i couldn't benefit from it even though they were mine. I decided to left casual jobs and started learning tailoring."
