Kazungu
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"My primary goal is to renovate my house, which was affected by heavy rains, causing it to sink and the roof to leak badly. I am happy that I have already begun the process by purchasing iron roofing sheets and I have accumulated sixteen pieces so far. With a bountiful harvest ensuring sufficient food, I plan to redirect my transfers towards completing the renovations. These repairs will not only improve my living conditions but also provide much-needed relief, as I will be able to give my family a safe and secure place to live. I truly appreciate the assistance given, as it has uplifted my living standards."

Kadzo
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"Looking ahead, my goal for the year is to begin the construction of a larger house for my family. Our current home is inadequate, prompting the need for a more suitable living space. I plan to save my upcoming transfers towards this goal, aiming to start construction by September. A bigger house will provide better accommodation for my family, bringing considerable relief. I appreciate the opportunity given by GiveDirectly to enhance my family's living conditions."

Sanita
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"As previously mentioned, my primary goal remains constructing an additional house to provide adequate sleeping space for my grown-up children, alleviating their need to share cramped quarters or seek accommodation elsewhere. While I have not achieved this goal yet due to unforeseen challenges, I remain optimistic about completing it before the year's end.
Although I have managed to acquire some of the necessary construction materials, I still need to obtain at least 17 more iron sheets and additional supplies. I have adjusted my approach and plan to purchase these materials gradually, using part of my monthly transfers. Specifically, I have decided to allocate at least $15 of each transfer towards purchasing these materials, while the remaining amount will be used to meet the educational needs of my children.
Ensuring my children receive a quality education is paramount to me, despite the challenges we face. I am committed to providing them with the best opportunities, even in difficult circumstances."

Saumu
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"Upon receiving my next transfers, my intention is to acquire iron sheets. This step is crucial as I aim to enlarge my current one-room dwelling to accommodate the remaining three members of my family comfortably. Following the procurement of iron sheets, my next move will be to acquire building poles, marking the beginning of the construction process for the additional room. The financial assistance I've received has significantly improved my living situation, and I couldn't be happier with the positive changes it has brought about in my life."

Zawadi
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"Through dedication and proper planning of the transfers,I have so far managed to acquire 6 which is still 3 less in order for me to be able to trade them for a cow as I need at least 9 goats to have a decent size bull. I will therefore continue channelling my transfers towards the purchase of the goats. Each month, I will be setting aside $30 of the transfers towards this project as this is the only way I can achieve it faster.
Once we have the 2 bulls, we will be able to cultivate a much bigger portion of land, including the section that is currently unutilized which will in turn improve our food production and shield us from hunger. Farming costs will also be decreased as we will no longer have to hire tractors or bull-driven ploughs to cultivate our farm, instead, we will increase our income by hiring our services out to other farmers who may need ploughing services."

Dorcus
received a $24 twenty-second payment.
"Through the transfers I receive, I was able to assist my husband in purchasing a second-hand motorcycle, which he now uses for a taxi business, a move that significantly boosted our household income. I achieved this by investing part of the monthly transfers, approximately $15 into poultry farming by buying chicks at a lower price, raising them for a few months, and then selling them at a profit.
Since this strategy has proven successful before, I plan to use it again to raise enough money to expand our house. Currently, our house has only two rooms, and we need an additional room for our two growing children. I aim to accomplish this by the end of this year, as next year, the added expense of our eldest child starting school may make it more challenging to undertake such a project.
Furthermore, considering my parents' financial constraints in supporting my sister's education, I will allocate part of the transfers for this cause. I plan to set aside at least $15 for her school fees and $10 for the poultry project, and use the remaining amount for other household needs."

Dama
received a $384 second payment.
"My husband and I live miserably as we're both jobless. Blessed with two grown sons who are occupied with their own affairs, we struggle to make ends meet. To earn a living, I sell sisal harvested from the bush, but it's barely enough to cover our pressing needs and buy sufficient food. The second transfer was transformative in our lives. I allocated $70 to purchase a mattress, a significant improvement from the worn-out sacks I used to sleep on which would make my back hurt in the morning. Now, I wake up feeling refreshed after restful nights. Additionally, I allocated $50 for household utensils like a wooden mortar and pestle, which were lacking. To address immediate food shortages, I used $30 to purchase food since we hadn't harvested crops from our farm. I also invested $100 in two female goats, hoping they'll provide additional income through their offspring. I also contributed $50 to help my son pay his wife's dowry, preventing my in-laws from taking her back due to his outstanding debt. I set aside the remaining funds to address any future pressing needs."
