Charo
received a $27 twenty-second payment.
"Right now, I'm focusing on breeding goats because they reproduce quickly. Once my goat herd multiplies, I aim to exchange them for cows, as the market rate is around 5 goats for a cow, and also get their nutritious milk. With cows and on the farm, I'll have extra help for tilling the shamba hence saving the amount that I could have used tilling using the tractor for other investments moreso they'll be a source of income too. I'm hopeful that by this time next year, I'll have around four cows and at least sixteen goats. It's a simple plan, but it fills me with excitement and hope for the future of my farm."

Kanze
received a $27 nineteenth payment.
"My main goal is to acquire all the necessary building materials for constructing a new, durable house, which for now I have successfully acquired 30 building poles with hopes that soon I will be able to acquire all of them since the recent heavy rains have left me feeling unsafe residing in the current house, as it is at risk of collapsing at any moment. I aim to construct a resilient dwelling that can withstand adverse weather conditions. I am delighted and hopeful that with the financial assistance from the transfers, I will be able to realize my ambition of building a quality home for myself."

Dzende
received a $27 twenty-second payment.
"What I wish for is for my four children to study up to their desired level of education. However, since I lack a reliable source of income, am worried that if I do not establish an investment out of the transfer, I may not be able to finance their education. Through future cash transfers, I have been able to acquire goat this quarter and hoping to buy more through the transfer. Am confident that when these animals increase in number it will increase wealth. In the future, I can sell them to support my children."

Sidi
received a $27 twenty-sixth payment.
"With the help of the monthly transfers I received from Give Directly, I embarked on constructing a two-room house. Utilizing old pieces of iron sheeting salvaged from my previous collapsed house, I managed to roof one of the rooms partially. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, the other room remains unfinished as I lack the funds to purchase the necessary 12 iron sheets. However, I am determined to achieve my goal by saving enough money through a savings group, which will allow me to buy the required iron sheets and complete the construction of my house. I also wish to educate my children so that when they finish school and secure jobs they will help me."

Kadzo
received a $27 eighteenth payment.
"I could have spent the transfers on food, but what happens when the transfers end? I may not have something to fall back on for provision. Besides, my husband, who is the sole provider, is advancing in age, and it will be challenging for him to engage in work in the future. This is why I plan on rearing livestock, such as goats. I believe that they will equip me with enough wealth to support the education of my children even past the transfer period."

Kenga
received a $27 thirtieth payment.
"My goal is to build a rental space. Since my home is positioned on the road, next to the school and the trade center, I anticipate that the rental space will be beneficial. I have already started making bricks for the house using money from the previous transfers. I want to have three rooms in the rental space. With a rental rate of around $20 per month, I anticipate that I will be earning at least $60 per month if all three rooms are occupied. This amount will help me support the education of my three children and provide for their basic needs."

Margaret
received a $27 twenty-sixth payment.
"I have always wanted to build a new house, but school fees for my five children have constrained me. Additionally, the living I make from making charcoal is barely sufficient. The current house I have is in poor condition, with mud walls disintegrating and most of the walls falling. I pray that even as I support the education of my children through the transfers, I will be able to set aside some transfer funds to start building a house. I would be happy if I could build a two-room one, even if it is made of mud walls and an iron sheet roof. It would be a significant upgrade from the current one."

Kimoi
received a $353 third payment.
"My main goal for this year is to complete the construction of a new home. My current house is small, and with my kids and grandkids visiting often, I feel the need for a bigger space. The construction has already begun, and I couldn't be happier. I've been able to finance this project using savings from previous transfers from GiveDirectly.
Seeing my grandkids happy and comfortable is my utmost priority, and building a new home will ensure just that. The thought of having a larger, more comfortable space for them to enjoy fills my heart with joy. With each brick laid and each wall erected, I am one step closer to achieving this dream. Thanks to GiveDirectly, I am able to create a better environment for my family, one where love, laughter, and comfort abound."

Paulina
received a $353 third payment.
"Receiving $450 from GiveDirectly was like a ray of hope shining into my life. It was a lifeline, a blessing that brought immense joy. With a grateful heart, I immediately put $250 towards my son's university education. He's in his fourth year at Umma University, and seeing him graduate this year means everything to me. I believe his education will be the key to unlocking countless opportunities for him, paving the way for a brighter future for our family.
The remaining $200 went towards something equally important: building a kitchen. Currently, I cook outside, but when it rains, it's a real challenge. So, investing in construction materials was crucial. I envision a comfortable kitchen where we can prepare meals comfortably, regardless of the weather. This improvement will not only enhance our well-being but also bring us greater comfort, especially during the rainy seasons."
