Kahunda
received a $442 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is paying school fees for my daughter, who is in her final year of secondary school. We have high expectations for our firstborn daughter, and we hope she will have enough time to prepare for her final exams. I am relieved that she will not be sent home for the entire term, as she was previously, and that she will spend all of her time in school studying with other students."

I am forever indebted for the amazing gift from GiveDirectly."

Alice
received a $442 initial payment.
"I always had a dream of rearing dairy goats, though it was not easy to raise them due to financial constraints. My husband and I work at the county government. Together we are blessed with five children. Upon receiving my transfer, my husband and I agreed on buying a dairy goat to save up money that we use daily on purchasing milk. Therefore, I bought one for $170. Secondly, bought a water tank worth $140 and lastly I purchased foodstuffs with the remaining amount. I am so happy and fulfilled that I was able to accomplish my goal in a short period."

"I can vividly recall the moment that I got a text showing that I had received a sum of $550. I was at home relaxing. Then suddenly, I heard my phone ringing. Upon checking I was lost for words when I saw a message notification showing that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I was so happy and grateful for the support that came when we least expect it. I then told my wife and children who were equally grateful and relieved because he knew that we would accomplish our goals. We then embarked on planning."

Rachael
received a $442 initial payment.
"We are blessed to have six children, and my husband works at a construction company. I own a small business. I decided to purchase building materials with my initial transfer so I could construct a business house. I have been paying rent for a while now, and it was quite expensive and difficult to come up with the money. Due to economical limitations, I, therefore, used $350 to build the shop. In addition, I spent $150 on two goats and $10 on school tuition for my kids. Lastly, I spent the remaining money on food. I'm incredibly grateful for the help that has made our lives so wonderful."

received a $427 second payment.
"I had wished to start a cereals shop as an alternative source of livelihood for my family of 3. This is because I was depending on casual jobs at the quarry harvesting sand for sale. I was rendered jobless after the quarry owner decide to close it. The coming of GiveDirectly was a great relief for me. I spent $200 of my recent transfers to start a cereals shop selling sacks of maize in Nakuru town. Additionally, I used $20 to rent a shop for the business. At the moment, I am proud of selling 15 bags of maize every week thats translate to a profit of $100.5. Through that income, I can cater for the needs of the family comfortably. Additionally, I used $75 to lease a half an acre piece of land for farming where I grow maize. Currently, I was able to harvest 11 bags of maize from the farm."

"I have no money to buy herbs at least $20 per month for my cow to produce enough compost or buying fertilizer for my farm, this has affected my harvest so much and eat once per day.
I don't have good and clean clothes and shoes to wear, my house is very old and not clean, and all those affected my hapiness in life."

"Our living condition is not favourable because we have a small house for our big family of 7 , sleeping on the floor with all our children there is no privacy either for us nor our children who have to share the same room with us and among themselves boys and girls.
The current season is not favourable for our crops we are not able to harvest because of the lack of rain and lack of fertiliser, we currently don't have any livestock to give us organic fertiliser, we have to work for others daily to be able to afford inorganic fertiliser which we can't get in big quantity as the money we work for is much lesser than the price of the fertiliser on the market."

"I currently face a challenge of sleeping in a bad conditioned shelter which allows a lot of coldness to hit us leading to malaria and came as a result of the stones that rolled from the hill and destroyed my house. Some of my children stay with my mother which I see as an inconvenience to the old woman."
