"I am looking forward to investing on my farm this year. I was hoping to use the money I receive from GiveDirectly to buy a couple of goats and chickens with the intention of gaining financially down the line. I also have intentions of opening up a grocery store business with the money in order to help my husband cater for the day to day needs of our family."

"I had hoped that this year's transfers would enable me to add a second bedroom for my children. My four children, my husband, and I all occupy a single room, so I hoped the extra room would provide us more space and privacy. Additionally, I want to use the money to keep my kids in school by paying their tuition."

"As scones are typically in high demand in the morning, that is when I now sell them. My income has decreased because farming, which is my secondary source of income, is currently struggling owing to the drought. My goal is to grow the firm by starting a small restaurant that I will run throughout the day. Since I will be selling different types of food all day, this will draw more people and boost profits. In addition, I want to raise additional poultry and reach a goal of six goats by the end of the year. My husband works in construction, but it is unreliable, and there are times when he goes weeks without having any work. When our child starts school, we won't have any trouble paying for his tuition because we will have a reliable stream of income thanks to the cattle and business."

"I am planning to start up a small business supplying maize to boarding schools. I usually do it although to homesteads on order. In the near future, I will be expanding and mostly the deliveries will be done by the motorcyclist as they will be in large quantities. The profits from the business will be taking care of my kids' school fees."

"I want to devote all of my time and resources to acquiring the necessary building supplies and starting the house's construction this year. My problems will subside and my life will become much simpler once I move into the new house. The house will enhance my children's living circumstances because the nighttime cold has harmed them."

"My main objective for this year is to build a stunning, durable, and permanent home for myself. Thank goodness I was not home when the house collapsed, and that it occurred during the day. This protected my sick body from harm. Strong poles, sand, rocks, and cement are what I want to purchase. I intend to add sturdy cement pillars to the house's sides as reinforcement, which will serve as adequate insurance for my security. I'm eager to relocate to my new home once the construction is finished and give my son his old one back."

"I am confident that with the help of the monthly stipend I receive, I will be able to cover all of my tuition costs and successfully complete the tailoring course. This is the biggest objective I want to accomplish this year. My son started school at the beginning of this month, and by finishing the course and launching my business, I will be able to pay his tuition and ensure that he can continue his education without any obstacles."

"I am a widow, lost my husband in 2014. It's really difficult raising children alone. The drought has been hard hitting. I mainly depend on casual jobs such harvesting tomatoes. In a day, I get paid $3. This is little for my family. It cannot buy enough food for us. Due to the drought there's limited jobs. If one's lucky you get 2 in a week. Lack of casual jobs affects my ability to feed my family. It's really hard getting a meal daily. Some days we don't eat. Just drink some hot water mixed with sugar."

"I want to increase my income this year. I currently sell African doughnuts largely in the mornings because most people eat them for breakfast and I'm always free in the afternoons. I'll launch a business selling silver cyprinid with the help of my shares so that I may keep myself busy all day. Given that it is a staple food, I am confident that I will make a substantial profit. I will save aside money once the business is stable so that I can buy my kids each a bed and a mattress. They are sleeping on a mat-covered bed constructed of sisal ropes. Sleeping in such a situation is uncomfortable, and I worry about their potential for health problems. Because I make less money from my present business, we cannot afford to provide children with quality bedding. On the other hand, my spouse also makes less money from his street bulb sales than I do. I'm hoping to complete all of these by December."

"I want to purchase at least four goats this year to raise them, and I'm already setting out $10 each month in a savings group to do so. Although I run a modest business, I don't earn enough money from it to provide for the requirements of the four of us. I am caring for my daughter's two kids and her. Her husband passed away in an accident a few years ago, but I decided to care for the kids because she was unable to support them financially. Goats multiply, making them more profitable, as a result, I may sell some of them in the future to help pay for the grand kids' tuition. Aside from that, I want to finish building the kitchen, which is already under construction, so I can have a pleasant location to cook and prevent smoke from damaging my belongings."
