Kachana
received a sixth payment.
"I currently have nine hens, but regrettably, I have not had much luck when it comes to purchasing goat. Therefore I want to buy myself a few farm animals, ideally goats and additional poultry with the money I will get this year in hopes that they would help me out financially in the long run. Apart from that, I have no one to take care of me, and personally I am too old to work to support myself, therefore I will spend the rest of the money on food."

Nyevu
received a $28 tenth payment.
"Since I have to take care of my grandkids this year, I intend to use the majority of the funds to cover the cost of tuition. They will be able to continue their education as a result because it happens frequently that students are expelled for not paying fees. Also, since my unwell son and my grandchildren depend on me, I aim to focus on food with the remaining funds."

received a $28 sixth payment.
"I intend to use the funds to finance the construction of my own home. This is due to the fact that six years ago, after my house fell, my co-wife graciously invited me to share her home. This year, I'm hopeful that the transfers will allow me to eventually build my own house. Aside from that, I also intended to use the funds for nutrition-related needs because they have been a constant struggle due to the drought."

Kadzo
received a $28 sixth payment.
"Currently, I run a small business selling various food items. Although it does not perform very well, I am always able to realize a daily profit of $2 from it. To realize an increased income, I have developed a goal of expanding my business this year. With the continuous monthly transfers, I will re-invest some money to boost it in anticipation of realizing an increased profit. Second, I want to raise livestock, specifically goats and cows. They can be useful, especially during an emergency, because I can sell some to raise cash."

Kanze
received a $28 sixth payment.
"In the next year, I desire to have built an additional room to my current one-room house. Since my grandchildren love to spend their nights in my house, I feel like the space is too small for all of us hence the need for an extension. Besides, the extra space will grant us privacy. I have already started buying the materials, which I hope to have fully assembled over the next few months so that construction can begin. Once the room is completed, I will start saving for other kinds of livestock like goats and cattle. "

"Currently, putting food on the table is my priority. I would never wish to go back to the days when my family constantly slept hungry for lack of money for food. When lack of food no longer seems to be a problem in the household, I plan to save towards the purchase of goats. Having already purchased one, courtesy of previous cash transfers, I wish to buy at least five more goats by year end. "

Safari
received a $28 sixth payment.
"Two years ago, my livestock was attacked by a disease, which prompted me to sell them at a throw price before I could run into a devastating loss. Ever since it had been challenging to replace the herd due to financial constraints like my children's school fees and food. Though these cash transfers are a perfect opportunity to buy these animals, it is still tough since I hugely rely on money for my basic needs. I pray for fast healing of my leg so that I can get back to work and start saving towards purchasing livestock. By next year, I wish to have bought at least four goats. "

Dama
received a $28 sixth payment.
"By this time next year, I wish to have built a decent kitchen structure. I have been doubling my tiny poultry shed as a kitchen, and I feel it may run out of space when the flock expands. To construct the kitchen space, I need to buy building poles and iron sheets before I could hire someone to begin the exercise. After its completion, I plan to buy a wooden bed and a cozy mattress to replace the sisal-twined bed and sack-beddings I currently sleep on. "

"Right now my mind is on building my new house. Give Directly’s cash transfers are the best chance of making this dream possible because I do not have any other source of income. Besides, the money that my son makes from hawking soaps and detergents can hardly cater to anything beyond food. Once am settled in the new space, I will start saving towards acquiring livestock and supporting the education of my grandchildren. "

Sidi

"The accomplishment I wish to have done in one year’s time is building a kitchen structure. Right now, the structure am using for cooking is not only in poor condition, but also serves as a shelter for my 12 goats. I plan to start saving towards the purchase of iron sheets and building poles so that I can begin building the structure. "
