"I spent part of my second transfer on buying a bed and a mattress at $120. It has been my dream to sleep in a better place but this has never been possible for all those years that I have been in marriage. I feel relieved and relaxed since I no longer complain of back pains like before. I also purchased three bags of cement which cost around $18. I had planned to put cement in my house so that I could keep moist away and sometimes dust. It now looks so decent and presentable courtesy of GiveDirectly. Apart from that, I bought three goats and I am certain that within a few months, I will have many of them. Once they increase in number, I plan to sell some and sort all the bills as well as provide for my family's needs since I have been jobless. With the remaining amount, I bought nice clothes and enough food that took us a month."

"In my opinion, the organisation did a very good job by fulfilling all their promises made during the enrolment. One of them is sending unconditional cash transfers into our Mpesa accounts. This was the best because it enhanced transparency and there were low cases of theft and bribery."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying all the necessary materials for building a new house. I had to take this initiative because the previous one was very small and it even collapse one month after being enrolled. I can't thank enough GiveDirectly because were it not for them, I would now be steering under a tree since I could not afford to purchase any of the items at my own cost. I now feel safe from the harmful animals and rodents that have been destroying my properties. I later bought four goats at a total cost of $140. I believe these are the best assets that one can own and earn the benefits within a short period. This is because their offspring mature very fast and they reproduce twice a year. I believe once they increase in number, I will not have to strain on meeting my household needs like before. Later on, I cleared a debt of $36 to a friend and I now have peace of mind. With the remaining amount, I have been buying food and other basic items in my household."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by offering us unconditional cash transfers. This was so unique since it has never happened in our village before. I was able to fulfil the desires of my heart after being granted the freedom of purchasing what I want. I do not see anything they need to work on as they shift to another region."

"I commend Give Directly for giving me unconditional cash transfers. The money alleviated the hardships that my family was facing by providing them with food and paying school fees for my children. Additionally, when I fell ill, the cash covered my hospital expenses. If it were not for Give Directly, am not sure what would have happened to my health. Though am not yet healed, am afraid the condition would have deteriorated had I failed to receive treatment. According to me, there is nothing that the organization could improve on. "

Kauchi
received a $420 second payment.
"My focus right now is working on my health and getting the necessary treatment for the tumor that was diagnosed a couple of years ago. What saddens me is lacking resources and funds for the treatment process. The little money my son makes from his casual jobs can hardly put daily meals on the table. This is why I started rearing livestock that could help raise cash for my medication. "

"According to me, Give Directly is doing a significant job of giving people from poor communities unconditional cash. I have seen how these transfers have transformed people’s living standards in my village. Many have built houses, bought livestock, and supported the education of their children. I only wish that my two sons would have benefited from the transfers as well because they are going through a tough time providing for their children. "

received a $420 second payment.
"I am grateful to Give Directly for giving me money that helped alleviate the hardships that my family was facing due to poverty. Through the money, I built a new house, covered my husband’s hospital bills when he was sick, and put food on the table for my family. I could never be more grateful for the support. In my opinion, there is nothing that the organization could improve on. "

"Giving cash to people affected by poverty is the most significant job that Give Directly does. Personally, I have achieved a lot that could otherwise not have been possible were it not for Give Directly. I built a house for my sons and put regular meals on the table courtesy of cash transfers. From where I stand, there is nothing that Give Directly could improve on. "

Leah
received a $434 second payment.
"Previously, my husband, three children, and I used to occupy a one-room house, which was growing small for our growing family. Given the salary that my husband earned from working as a butcher man, it would have been challenging to raise enough money to build a larger house. Through the cash aid, Give Directly presented a great opportunity to actualize our dream of a bigger structure. I used the entire cash transfer to fund the construction of the new three-room house I had started building through the initial transfer. Particularly, I spent $ 250 on iron sheets, $190 on planks, and the remaining balance on labor compensation. I am happy that my family fully relocated to the new house and we have been enjoying the space ever since. "
