Selina
received a $420 second payment.
"When I received my second transfer recently, I used $200 to pay school fees for my children and used another $100 to buy a heifer. I then used another $70 to clear debts that had accumulated over time. Being a single mother of four who depends largely on casual labour to earn some income, things have not been very easy for me and my family. I have had to rely on small business and odd casual jobs to earn a living and paying school fees for my children has been one toll order for me. I felt happy and lucky to have been part of the people benefitting from this program and will forever be invented for what it has done in my life. Debts that had stayed for a long time without being cleared is now settled and I cannot explain the amount of joy that came with this."

Lezebeth
received a $435 second payment.
"The enrollment was done well without any discrimination and most of the people who qualified to receive the transfer spent it well. Most people build better houses and even invested in dairy-keeping projects. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."

Leah
received a $420 second payment.
"I spent $ 400 on purchasing a piece of land from my neighbor. I had a small piece of land and this was liming my farming activities. I have always wished to have a much bigger land to keep my dairy cow and plant Napier grass. This was not easy because I did not have the money to buy land. When I receive the transfer from GiveDirectly I saw this as an opportunity for me to invest in purchasing land. Currently, I have enough feeds for my dairy cow because I have planted napier grass. Milk production has increased compared to previous years. I am so grateful because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard. The remaining amount of money I spent on food and medication because I was feeling unwell"

Kipngetich
received a $420 second payment.
"I used to run a veterinary shop selling animal feeds and drugs but I stopped at some point due to reducing in capital and the high demand for basic needs. My wish is to start this business again because still there is a high demand for animal produce in our community."

Joseph
received a $435 second payment.
"The training and the enrollment were perfectly done and everyone understood the program so well. Most people invested their money in income-generating projects and this has improved their standard of living. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."

Kadzo
received a $420 second payment.
"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a great job, especially on the teachings concerning cash transfers. A good number of us were not conversant with the Mpesa platform therefore I must mention that they helped us a lot. I do not see any sector that needs to be adjusted even as they move to the next village."

Kana
received a $420 second payment.
"In my opinion, GiveDirectly has been doing well in my entire village. Their coming has enhanced peace and unity in the village since that is what they emphasised and I am glad for this change. I do not see anything negative they did that needs to be changed."

Dama
received a $420 second payment.
"In a few months to come, I am hoping to invest more in livestock( cows and goats). I believe they will not only be of help when settling any financial challenge in my household but also, they will empower me to take all my children to school. This has been the major challenge that I am facing and I believe once I will be able to have a good number of them, my children will no longer stay at home due to the arrears as before."

Shida
received a $420 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer on buying three goats which cost around $80. I have been yearning to keep them for so long but I could not afford them because of the poverty that had stricken my household. I now feel great and thankful because, through these goats, I am positive that I will achieve a lot. Currently, they have started reproducing which is an assurance that I will have many of them within a short time. Later on, I bought iron sheets, poles, and timber for a total of $330. I had planned to build a new house for my son who has been sheltering at his friend's houses for the last five years. This has been stressing me a lot as a parent since he deserved to have some privacy considering he is a teenager. I am glad this was a success and it has even brought so much joy into our family. Additionally, I bought new uniforms and cleared arrears for my other children. The issue of fees has been stressing me a lot since I only depend on odd jobs to cater for my family which is comprised of eight members. With the remaining cash, I bought food and other household items that I was lacking."

Theresa
received a $238 third payment.
"I am a farmer therefore, I hope to enlarge my 2.5 acres of cocoa farm to 4.5 acres in the coming year. When this is done, I will be able to generate enough money from my farm to send my children to school with out depending on anyone."
