"i now have a dairy cow. Also, I now live comfortably in my newly built house. we were living old Previously I lived in an old house whose walls had started cracking. When I received my transfer, I purchased enough building materials that include iron sheets, building poles and paid for the labor cost. I settled on this since the cost of renovating our old house was almost the same as that of building a new one. I am happy that I have a new house to live in with my family through this money. Also, the transfer enabled me to purchase some chicken, sheep and a dairy cow. These are assets to me that I did not have before and I can lean on in case I am in dire need of cash."

"The difference in my life since I started receiving these transfers is that there is peace and happiness in my family. Before, I would only depend on a small income from casual work which was very inconsistent and very little before the transfers. I could not even meet my daily needs comfortably with my income. I would struggle to provide for my family as I rarely had money. This forced my wife to go back to her parents after a petty quarrel for not being able to provide for them. Ever since I started receiving these transfers, a lot has changed. First, I went back and brought my family back home and planned together for the transfers which we received. We bought food which would sustain us for some days put up a good shelter and pay school fees for our children. All these united us together and I believe that I wouldn't have gotten such were it not for Give Directly."

"I have been living in a mud-walled grass-thatched house for the longest time I can remember. This structure requires a lot of maintenance and since I cannot do that myself because of old age, I usually depend on my grandchildren and other family members to maintain it for me. This, I feel, is sometimes a pester to them and takes so much of their time which they would have otherwise utilized it somewhere else. The mud floor also usually has some dust and sometimes affects my health. This will soon change because of the new house that I am almost done building. The iron roofed and timber walled house won't require much maintenance and apart from that, I will also be harvesting water from the roof for household use. I am really happy and grateful for GiveDirectly."

"Before the coming of GiveDirectly, I was living in a grass thatched house with no hopes of building a better one. However, my life is currently different because I now live in a decent iron roofed house. The transfer also helped me to cover for my medical expenses. I was sick suffering from tuberculosis and raising enough money for the medical bills was a challenge to me. I am now under medication because of this financial help from GiveDirectly."

"My house had collapsed many years ago. I however did not have enough financial resources to enable me build a new house. I am grateful to GiveDirectly because through their financial support, I built a new iron roofed house to shelter with my family. Had it not been this financial support, I would still be begging my neighbours for shelter. Also, the money helped me in paying for my son's medical bills when he was ill. I would not have managed to pay for the medical expenses were it not for this financial help."

"I was stranded and troubled on how I would raise school fees for my children in college and high school so that they would be allowed to continue with their studies. However, my life is currently different because I cleared for them and they were allowed back to school. I did not have any livestock in my homestead but currently I have goats that I am keeping. I am expecting them to reproduce and increase in number. Having them are a saving for the future for the sake of my children's education."
