"Having livestock of my won has become possible only because of the transfers from GiveDirectly. For a long time, I wanted to start keeping a cow but I could not personally afford a heifer. The business of livestock trading was not raising enough to meet our household needs including school fees and food. I needed to have an income from a dairy cow that will enable me to provide for the family while my husband's efforts in business to handle school fees. I am now glad to be a contributor to my household's income."

"My life is currently different because bought a water tank. I used to fetch water from a water pond about 3 kilometers away from home. The water was not safe for drinking and could easily affect the health of my children. I am sure the rainwater I collect in the tank is much safer in addition to the trouble it saved me from the hectic process of fetching from the community pond."

"My life will be different in the next six months in that I will no longer be staying in a rental house. I want to use my next series of transfers on savings with a plan of buying building materials such as iron sheets, timber and nails for putting up a house. Currently, I am staying in a rental house and I feel life is much expensive especially on paying rent every month. I feel it is time I have my own house and use the money for paying rent on other family needs."

"My life is currently different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have been able to build a house for my son. Due to this, he now sleeps at home unlike before and I no longer worry about his security at night. Also, I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow and some chicken. I will be using the income from these projects to cater for our daily needs. This will be my major source of income since I cannot engage myself in tedious work as I am disabled and I cannot even do some tasks like farming."

With the coming of GiveDirectly, I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow. Due to this, I have been able to save the money I would otherwise use in buying milk. This is also an asset that I can lean by selling milk and using the income from milk sales to cater to our daily needs."

"Upon receiving the transfer fro GiveDirectly, I decided to spent the first 40000 KES on buying livestock. A cow was a priority since we had been buying ilk for quite sometimes and we needed to be milking from our own cow to reduce the expenses. We also considered buying a donkey which is the chief means of transportation in our village. Fetching water fro the dams which are way to far from home has not been that easy but with the donkey we are now doing it with a lot of ease. We also spent some money on foodstuff and also clothing for our children and finally managed to put some in our saving account t serve as contingencies."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the school fees payment. It had been a struggle ensuring that we complete the payment of school fees for all our children, we would always do the casual works in order to make a saving out of it. On receiving this money we felt a relief and to date we are still happy that we are part of this project."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to build a spacious kitchen for my family. Due to this, my family are always clean as we no longer wear clothes full of sooth. Our bedroom is also clean nowadays and spacious unlike before. Also, I now own some assets that I can lean on in case of financial challenges. When they reproduce, I will be able to save the money I would otherwise use in buying milk since I will be milking them. I would not have been able to achieve all this on my own and I thank God for leading GiveDirectly into our lives."

"I spent my transfer to buy some building materials to use in building a more spacious house for my family. I settled on this since the one were living in was small and could not accommodate us comfortably. Apart from it being small, it was old and its roof was always leaking and the walls had some cracks. We were always living in fear that it would collapse anytime. Also, I spent some amount on my family's welfare. I bought some decent clothes for each one of us and enough food to last us for some time. I still have some amount that I am saving so that I can use in case of an emergency."
