"Receiving this money means a good source of income to my family of 3 members. Currently, I am a housewife. This I plan to achieve through practising livestock and poultry farming. I intend to spend KES 90,000 to purchase 20 indigenous goats and 2 chicks and I built a shelter. As the goats and chickens multiply, I will sell them at a profit price. The proceeds I will be getting will be enough to sustain my needs such as food and educate my child who is in lower classes. The remaining transfer will go for modern beddings."

"My ambition is to own a bigger piece of land and practice large scale farming. I was not fortunate to get married so my parents gave me a small piece of land that I could built on and raise my sons. In my culture women are not entitled to inherit land but they can be given a small piece to build on if they are not married.I haven't been able to own a land and practice farming because whatever money I got from my small business was for their education. Receiving this transfer will enable me to finish purchasing a piece of land in the next village and continue farming. This will amount to KES 60,000. The remaining transfer will aid in paying for my son's plumbing course fee which is KES 20,000 and the rest in buying food."

"The biggest hardship we face as a family is financial constraints, my husband works as a police officer with a salary of about KES 30,000 which we depend on to sustain all our needs. This has made it difficult to have a nice kitchen, pay school fees or even buy livestock that can be used as future investment for the family."

"The sending of the transfers directly to us ensured that we benefitted wholly from the program. This is one of the best decision Give Directly made. Give Directly is also honest and never biased when choosing their recipient and through this, me a divorcee was able to benefit from their programs. For now I really don't know their bad side since they helped me without even knowing me."

"Giving us unconditional transfers is one of the best initiative done by GiveDirectly since one is able to take care of the things on need basis. I was able to care of the school fees and and clear my land debts at ease since they were more pressing and stressing at that moment. This has also enabled me to buy a cow that very soon I will start milking and the produce will be used partly at home while the rest will be taken to the market hence ensuring a continuous flow of cash."

"It's important to me that my family has decent shelter. This had been impossible to achieve however, because I did not have enough money to build a good house for us. I was pleased to receive this transfer from GD. I was able to spend KES 33,150 on materials such as timber and iron sheets, and labour for construction. Because the bed I had was broken, I spent KES 8,000 to buy a new one, so I can sleep comfortably. I also bought a dairy cow worth KES 12,000 that can supply us with milk for use at home and for sale."
